Morning. Another wild night and it’s still blowing.

My night was very disturbed by the continuing storm. Yesterday it seemed as if things calmed down somewhat. Rain hammered, though not as fiercely as anticipated, and the wind wasn't so high. Then, overnight, the blustery weather reappeared. Once again I watched TV on my tablet as the dish was being battered so that the signal was continuously interrupted. When I woke at about midnight the power was off. 🥶 I did the online report from my mobile, put on a podcast and tossed around a while. I must have nodded off as I woke with a start a couple of hours later as my bedside light came on...power was back! The rest of the night I drifted in and out of sleep. I can catch up later. If all goes well, and I mean that the winds die down again, I'll head up to the bug town as I've a clothes order to collect. I have a dilemma about dressing for the civil ceremony I'm attending later this week as I no longer have more formal stuff. Even though it's being held in the couple's own home I need to be smart. I'm not sure that what I've ordered is going to be kept. 😀
Anyway, I hope that everyone is fine still. I was thinking about @DP1's little one in Edinburgh, perhaps the worst of the storm missed that area. Take care, hugs to all.13 -
Thanks for the start Gers - Hope things settle down. I have friends holidaying in Skye and they have had it bad, but where they live in the Highlands has no electricity or water until probably Monday. It was very windy here though the gusts were the worst - we had the tree branch hanging precariously close to a power line all morning but thankfully it finally snapped and missed the cable and just squashed a few plants. Had to do a quick clearance to make it safe but the gusts were nearly taking your feet and breath away.Much calmer now so there will be much clearing up and leaf collecting to do - there aren’t many apples left in the trees either 😞
Take care all

Morning folks and thanks GERS. I hope you find your clothes order suitable for the ceremony. The gusty wind is still blowing here too but, at the moment, there is no rain and the sun looks to be getting out. Yesterday was something else when battered with both at the same time. The forecast says the wind will finally die down early afternoon.
I survived unscathed from my flu jab yesterday, just a bit of a tender arm. They are starting walk in Covid clinics mid week so another trip down to B**ts. But it's easier getting there than the surgery when I need a taxi. DS offered to run me down as he said not a day for waiting for buses. He's a good 'un. Unfortunately I forgot my stick, which is picked up automatically when on the bus, and by the time I got to B**ts from the drop off point I was wobbling around like jelly on a plate!
I have a small gammon joint on the go for lunch but still some veg to prep, so next job. The wm is on with a coloured load but I am not battling with the wind to peg it out, it can go over the airer upstairs. Once the wind finally drops I will go out and put the pots upright, until the next storm! Is it me or are we getting more and more of these storms?
I've forgotten what everyone said yesterday so I hope all are ok. Have a good day folks, ((HUGS)) for our poorlies or sad. Take care x

Morning All
Dry and bright this morning with a stiff breeze, I'm annoyed that I don't have the WM at the moment as the bedding would have dried in no time. I'll take it to DD tomorrow, friend across the road did a wash for me yesterday so not all bad.
Hope everyone is safe from the storm, it used to just be wet and windy weather but now we seem to have a named storm every few weeks! No damage here apart from the plum tree in a pot that has blown over but it can stay as it is for now.
Hope your new clothes are suitable Gers and your power stays on, sounds like it was a rough night.
I too was thinking of DP1's little one, hope all is well.
I'm going to meet DS1 and family for lunch today half way between us both, will be good to catch up, just hoping the roads are better today, lots of local closures yesterday.
I decided to advertise some clothes on Vinted, quite easy to do and have already sold a pair of sparkly shoes I wore briefly to DD's wedding but I'll not wear them again. Now need to work out how to send them.
Hope you all have a peaceful Sunday, take care. XX11 -
Good morning @Gers and all to follow. We too had a gusty and noisy night, although not as bad as you and others in your part of the UK. It's still very windy but the sun is shining brightly this morning and there's not a cloud in the sky nor should we be having any rain today. Top temps will supposedly reach 15 deg but it will feel a couple of degrees below that, thanks to the wind.
Today I'm making fridge bottom soup for lunchtimes during the week and have a couple of slices of cooked beef to heat up in gravy for dinner with the usual veg and potatoes. I can see the rest of the day being spent on the sofa, either reading or indulging in a spot of binge TV.Well, it is Sunday after all!
@Gers - I guess that's where the LBD comes in handy - not that I have one - but I hope you manage to find something suitable for the ceremony.
@Izzy - Enjoy your peace and quiet while hubby is out chasing golf balls!
Nothing else of note to say, so I'll wish everyone a peaceful Sunday. Stay safe and take care. XBe kind to others and to yourself too.10 -
Morning all and thanks for the start @Gers sounds like a challenging night. I too hope the clothing order is suitable for the event x
Annoying not having a working WM @camelot1001 - glad your neighbour could help out.We had a blustery day yesterday but it’s calmer today. DH and chums are having sausage sandwiches. I’m keeping out of the way in the lounge. Will make my breakfast once they are done.Mum is coming for lunch, which will be roast chicken, roast potatoes, cabbage and roasted veg. I’ll also make an apple crumble.I’ll walk down to the local Co-op later to get my steps in plus buy some sandwich fillers and some tissues. Forgot both on Friday when I went to A!di.Take care all and have a good day.CoxyCross-stitch WIP: Haberdashery Shop Fiver Friday challenge 2025 founding member 😊 Read 25 books in 2025 20/25 Currently reading Finding Hildasaay by Christian Lewis11 -
Morning all
Dry here but still very blustery dd has her bedding in the wm so that can go on the line once it’s finished. I have a bit of brisket in the SC with some carrots, I don’t put onion in so that the dogs can share the dinner, I will do enough for tomorrow too.
We had news yesterday that my aunt (dads sister) had passed away in the USA she was 94 so had a good life, she was full of energy and good fun, she travelled extensively when she was younger and lived a full life, rest in peace Aunt Peg xx
I grew up in a tiny village, the next one along from us there was nothing there but a few houses and a pub, my parents ran the pub, the village and woodlands are surrounded by fields it’s simply beautiful, there is a house there that I have always loved and I always say that I will live there one day it’s right in the middle of woodland with no neighbours perfect for me 😬 I found out yesterday that it’s for sale it’s just stunning inside and out but it’s up for 1.1 million 😩😩 which is so out or our price range, so if anyone can come up with an idea of how I can raise about a million I would be very grateful 😂😂😂
A bit of housework to do today and then light the fire and have a rest this afternoon.
Have good days all and take care xx10 -

PS. - power went off again at 9’ish and not due back on again until Monday at 8pm. I’ve come up to the big town to collect my order so phone charged properly and bit 5g signal. Think it’s off at home. Before I left I went into the village to get a bit bacon roll and coffee being paid for by SSEN. 😎
Take care all.12
