Thanks for starting us off today @Gers and a good morning to all. Wild and wet here, gusty winds and heavy rain are set in for the day, much cooler. The branches on the willow tree outside my kitchen are blowing horizontally and one has been a casualty, having snapped off some time last night. The cherry tree at the back of the house has lost a copious amount of its leaves too but, strangely, the empty planters on my patio haven't blown away.
Yesterday I rang the optician for an eye test appointment and was offered a cancellation for today that I declined (thankfully) and am booked in for Tuesday - hopefully the weather will have calmed down by then. I've also compiled a shopping list for delivery on Monday and will send the order in today. Nothing for the freezer, some items for the pantry and fridge plus cleaning stuff. Still lots of not available items and yet more price increases.
Today's freezer offering for tea is a Thai green chicken curry and a jacket potato.
I'm making a new curtain for the front door. When I say "new", I'm being very MSE using an inherited item (a large coverlet/throw/tablecloth?) that belonged to my DGM and that I've never seen in use in my 70-odd years. It has a very dramatic pattern of stylised flowers and scrolls in brightly coloured shiny threads on a black background - Indian/Persian influence? - with tassels around the edges. I sat patiently removing the tassels yesterday with a wry thought that someone all those years ago must have sat patiently attaching them.I doubt my offspring will want it so, rather than it languishing at the bottom of a blanket box, I'm using it.
@Gers - You're really in the thick of it, just glad the only casualty was your Freesat dish.
@Scarlet - So sorry you've had another bad night - any pain always seems worse at night, probably because there's nothing to distract from it. Have a nap today if you need one.
@Izzy - That is sad news.
@Coxy - Camping? Tents? Not my cup of tea!
@camelot - I'd hate to be without a washing machine too.
@Ruby - Glad to hear your DM is OK and good to know the alarm system works; I hope you can get the phone sorted asap.
I'm definitely not venturing out anywhere today but for those who do need to go out, please stay safe. Take care, hugs where needed or wanted. XBe kind to others and to yourself too.9
