Morning allHope you and your home have come out of the storm safe @GersBack from dog sitting. They were in a long chain and never got their keys until around 3.30pm so didn't get home until late. Found out that after not driving in the dark for a while that I don't like it!! Maybe I should do it more often though.Nothing going on today except making a lemon sponge and some ironing to do too.Have a good day all x10

Morning folks and thanks GERS. I hope you have survived so far without any damage. The wind is still blowing here, though a respite from the rain for now. I haven't been outside but as far as I can see from the windows the only casualties appear to be a few blown over pots. The wind is due to keep blowing all day yet. Oh I hate wind.
I have to venture out twice in this blooming weather today. SS with DS this morning, then my flu jab this afternoon. I don't need a great deal of shopping, just a top up of fridge stuff and dw tablets.. I tidied the freezers out yesterday so they may stay tidy now for a few days as I don't intend buying anything for them today.
Have a good day folks if you can and fingers crossed no-one affected has any storm damage. Take care all, stay safe xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"10 -
Yesterday was rough and we got off lightly in this corner, for a change. Lots of patches of houses are without power and not expected to be back on until Monday. There are people stuck on a number of buses overnight because of felled trees. One especially large tree needs a specialist tree crane to come from Perth and it hasn't arrived yet. This is near to Inveraray. Huge number of trees are down everywhere. The only damage for me (so far) is that my Freesat dish took a bashing so no TV. Power abs internet OK so I watched a couple of things online. Oh, and the garden furniture bounced al, over the garden. When the wind is blowing in a certain direction drops of rain get into my living room by the wood burner so I had a big puddie on the hearth. It doesn't happen very often, thank goodness. Once the direction changed the drip stopped. I distracted myself from it by making soup and potato salad.Last night was properly scary. Today the rains are coming. I hope that ever is safe and dry. Hugs to all.12

Hi all
I’m back from a great sunny trip to Cornwall - one partial day of rain in 12 days is good in my book. Got home before the storm too.Hope you are ok Gers, and all our other posters in the path of the storm. It’s fairly windy here but due to get a bit worse before it dies down. I’m definitely not walking around the local lanes and paths - far too many dodgy looking trees and branches especially after the dry summer.Stay safe everyone

Morning, thanks Gers.
I think I started yesterday by saying it was damp here - well it got a whole lot damper. The rain started shortly after, and hammered down till late last night.
The trees over the road were heaving about in the wind, so there's loads of fallen leaves now.
I didn't go out, but will nip out this morning, if I can keep my eyes open. I've had a horrendous night, I was up at 3 am making cocoa to wash painkillers down. Why does arthritis pain get worse through the night, strange isn't it.
Hope everyone else is ok, Camelot hope you're feeling a bit better this morning.
Not doing much today though I will brighten up as the day goes on.I
Take care folks.

Morning everyone hope everyone is safe and dry it was wild last night but calmed down now just a few pots blown over I’m feeling grateful for every little thing today when I got in from the charity shop yesterday I got a message to say a young girl I used to work with had died she left a little girl six years old she fought so hard bless her it’s heartbreaking . I’ve got two hours of free energy today so I will be making a pan of broth and a half a dozen shepherd pies for the freezer managed to get some reduced mince then I will be putting my feet up ready for strictly. Thinking of all the poorlies hugs to those that need them have a good day everyone whatever you are doing9

Morning all and thanks for the start @Gers x I’m glad you are safe and have things to keep you distracted xx
We have several large trees along our garden border and the conkers were crashing down last night. Lots of leaf fall and I was glad of a warm bed unlike DH and pals - 3 in tents in the garden, one in the garage(!), one in his work van and BIL on the sofa using my lovely throw as a blanket!I have tidied the kitchen, emptied the DW and have the TD on. The men are having bacon sandwiches in the AF once they get up. I’m leaving at 10am to go meet friends so need two cars moving as I’m currently blocked in.The friends I’m meeting today are ex-neighbours, both of whom were left by their husbands after 20 years of marriage and two children. Both are still stuck in the loop of doom - one after 6 years the other 14 years, so it can be quite challenging to meet them at times. I find it draining that that’s mostly what they talk about. Does anyone else have friends like that?Just DS2 and I for dinner later so it will be sausages and AF potatoes - nice and easy.Sorry you had an uncomfortable night @ScarletRibbons. I have the start of arthritis in my hands and it’s always painful first thing.Stay safe everyone and have a good day.CoxyCross-stitch WIP: Haberdashery Shop Fiver Friday challenge 2025 founding member 😊 Read 25 books in 2025 20/25 Currently reading Finding Hildasaay by Christian Lewis11 -
Morning everyone
It's been wild here since yesterday afternoon and the wind is still strong this morning, DD and little one are in a little cabin somewhere beside Musselburgh, it's a treat for little one as she had her last play therapy session yesterday. They went to a trampoline park yesterday after her session and will be going to the cinema later today.
I started with a cold and woke up full this morning. I have a Tesco order coming this afternoon and need to pop to the nearest shops this morning for a couple of bits I couldn't get with my order. Other than that I'll be in the house, sniffing and sneezing!
Izzy that's awful news x
Gers I hope things settle down, with no more damage. The bungee ropes that hold my water butt in place have snapped so the water butt is at the bottom of the garden along with the blue bin, which was almost empty and some of the pots have blown over.
Coxy your husband and his friends must be daft! I think I'd have been the one on the sofa!
Right best get my shoes on...hope everyone has a good day x10 -
Morning All
Well that was a night of weather! Heavy rain all day then the wind started and blew all evening, don't know when it died down as I was fast asleep! It's calmer this morning and a bit colder, at least the horrid damp feeling and high humidity has left.
Feeling much better again this morning thanks Scarlet, a plain diet of not very much at a time seems to be working at the moment so must remember not to be a glutton!!
Glad you had a good time Allie.
Good luck with meeting your pals Coxy, it sounds like a bit of a chore. Hope your visitors have survived - rather them than me.
Hope you manage to have a nanna nap Scarlet, sounds painful.
How sad Izzy.
Glad you've survived Gers, fingers crossed it isn't as bad tonight.
Chrisca I don't like driving in the dark either, the lights on newer cars are so dazzling.
Well done on saying no Ruby!
How were the horses in the wind Mehefin?
I've been shopping this morning and will go back out to return some very overdue library books when they open then I'll stay in and do nothing but watch the storm. I was going to meet up with a friend for a walk but I think that will be off for today. Washing to take to friend's across the road, DD can do the bedding on Monday, so lucky to have folk helping out as I feel like my right hand has been chopped off not having a WM and it doesn't look like it will be back in for a week or so.
Have a good weekend, take care. XX10 -
Morning all
There was me saying we were not under a weather warning and we had a wild night ! Wind and rain lashing the house we had the log burner going and we’re all cosy and warm but we got a call from mums alarm system (she wears a pendant round her neck) to say the alarm had been activated, I tried calling her several times but it wouldn’t ring through, so I got my coat on over my pyjamas and walked round there she was fine and had not pressed the alarm but her phone was not working which triggers an alarm call. I got called again at 1 this morning as did my sister and dd, so it shows that the system works, we need to get on to getting her phone sorted out today.
Wm is on and another load to go in after they should dry well today as the rain has stopped but it’s still windy, a bit of housework to do this morning and dogs to be walked.
I got another call yesterday from someone requiring my services for her daughter so I am going to meet them Wednesday, so hopefully that will go well.
Izzy how sad about that young girl xx
Camelot and Gers good that you are both ok xx
Have good days all and take care xx8
