Gmail off line ??

My Gmail App is telling me that I am required to complete additional steps before using Gmail app - but it doesn't tell me what those steps are...............it appears to be OFFLINE - How do I switch it back ONLINE ?
I was using the app before lunch but it suddenly has problems ...
If I was half as smart as I think I am - I'd be twice as smart as I REALLY am.

I've been seeing the same thing since I picked my phone up this morning (Motorola Edge 40 Neo, Android 15), I thought a restart had fixed it but that hasn't been the case. One thing I have noticed is that if I look at emails on my Gmail account the message doesn't appear, it's only when looking at emails in my personal account (hosted by Fasthosts).Exact message is:To continue you'll need to take additional actionYour account or device settings require you to complete additional steps before using the Gmail app1

It appears to have been fixed - I had to reboot my phone first though !

Mine is also working OK so far today, but I haven't rebooted it, instead I cleared storage and cache for the Google Pay Services app, a solution I found on a Google support forum, which appears to have done the trick.0
