Gym Membership Leaving Fees

It's ridiculous that this is their argument. You are paying for a service to be available, whether you use it or not.Gymworry25 said:2. If we alter the operating hours of the services unreasonably resulting in you being subsequently being unable to access the services.
Is in my contract and I believe they have breached this by closing an area of the gym for personal training, which did not happen when I signed up originally.
They said I do not come to the gym enough in a monthly period for this to be a problem.
Every time I go to the gym this section is closed so i dont bother goingStatement of Affairs (SOA) link: https://www.lemonfool.co.uk/financecalculators/soa.phpFor free, non-judgemental debt advice, try: Stepchange or National Debtline. Beware fee charging companies with similar names.0 -
Yes, most gyms will only have one hyrox sled track though they could easily have multiple sets of sandbags, wall balls, kettlebells etc. I'd expect multiple rowing machines but what about the ski-erg?Gymworry25 said:I signed up and went regularly (at least once if not 2-3 times a weekl then they started closing this area, 4 squat racks (there is only 5 in the gym) the hyrox track (the only one in the gym) and the weights relating to hyrox such as sand bags and wall balls. My issue is I signed up for this area in particular and now everytime I go this is closed. I dont go regularly any more but i did up until about 4 months ago due to this area being closed I dont see the point as the work outs i want and need to do are hyrox specific so I need access to this equipment.
6 months ago I could access this equipment and now they are saying I could sign up for these private, small group classes (and pay more!) I want to be able to go to the gym straight from work and do my workout in this area and at the moment this is not possible
Have you asked the gym staff when this area is open for all and reminded them (politely) that one of your key drivers for joining the gym was to train for HYROX?0 -
Maybe, but in most comparable situations not every part of every facility will be available to members during all opening hours.kimwp said:

It is not uncommon for clubs of all kinds to hire out some facilities to private groups for some of the time. It could well be an important part of the overall budget. Golf clubs for example often have a (significant) number of days per year when competitions take place and the course is closed to members not taking part. Those that do take part may well have to pay a competition entry fee over and above their membership.
Other partial closures may be for maintenance or (if some of the facilities are outdoor) due to weather.
It all depends on exactly what is contractually guaranteed for members in the whole contract and also what is reasonable.0 -
Brie said:sounds like they're having their cake and eating it too! you want to go occasionally, you can't go because the bit you want to use is closed so you can go even less and that's giving them a reason why it shouldn't bother you.
Quote the T&Cs, tell them you're paying up to X date and then stop paying. They will get shirty and talk about debt collection but then refer them back to the T&Cs.Very poor advice.OP - How far into the gym membership are you? How much is the gym membership?
