Main driver and owner

My son is presently on my insurance but will be changing jobs in the new year and will become the main driver and will take out insurance in his name. Does it make sense to transfer ownership to him to keep his insurance costs down or would that make no difference?

Don’t confuse ownership with registered keeper. I don’t know if it will make much difference to insurance, but I would do it to simplify things as far as renewing car tax and dealing with any parking tickets or traffic offences he may get.

He still lives at home and works long hours (signed away right to work only 48 hours) and I am retired so happy to deal with paperwork etc.
So the question should be if he was the registered keeper rather than me would it make any difference to an insurance quote.

I've had this arrangement with my daughter for 4 years or so, doesn't seem to make a difference.

Only way to tell is to do quotes but generally insurers arent bothered by main driver and owner/RK not being the same person as long as they are close relatives. They have more issue if the two are unrelated.

We paid £25 extra a few years ago because  daughters car was registered in my name
Insurance company wouldn't tell us why the extra was needed
She lived at home with us at the time
Registered in my name because I had allready bought private plate in my name

I know I could have transferred plate to her name but didn't realise at the time I could
