Morning All
It's still dark and gloomy but dry for now - not looking forward to the storm that's going to hit this afternoon, hope you all stay safe.
Yesterday was truly awful, I had been up all night with gallstone pain so phoned for a doctor's appointment at 8.30 when I was 39th in the queue. After half an hour of waiting was told there were no appointments and I should go to hospital which I did. Lots of waiting around, bloods and other things checked was transferred to the Surgical Assessment Unit at 3pm and saw a doctor at 4pm who said there was no infection so could go home. By this time I was feeling fine as I hadn't had anything to eat and only sips of water since 6pm on Wednesday evening. Anyway, had the best night's sleep I have had in a long time and am going back to work today. I have been given stronger painkillers but will only take them in an emergency as I'm sure I've had them before for a sore back and they made me sick!
The building works are still going on, there's a huge dehumidifier chugging away in the laundry (has been going all night) but not sure if much will get done today with the bad weather on the way. All the windows along that wall have been re-sealed and new facias put on so there is a bit of progress.
Say no to the weekends Ruby, you need that time with your family. I'm sure something else is just around the corner for you.
Well done to the painting Mehefin, stay off that ladder today!
Can't remember what other folk have been up to, sorry but will wish everyone well. Take care. XX9 -
Morning @Gers thanks for starting us offMorning allDS's partner's mum and dad are moving today and as one of their dog's has a bad leg so I've been asked to dog sit today to make sure she's OK as her and the German Shepherd do play fight some times and they don't want any more injuries! I'm doing the same for a week next week as they're going on holiday. It's going to be a wet one today too so lots of muddy paws I expect. I'm taking the ingredients to make hobnobs as that will keep me amused while there. DS loves them so that'll be a nice surprise from a very busy day lugging stuff when they get home.Hope everyone hasa a good day x9

Morning, thanks Gers.
It's dull and damp here, yesterday wasn't too bsd, turned out grey but dry.
We went to our friend's yesterday to see if she needed any help after her house move on Wednesday - she's still surrounded by boxes, but slowly trying to sort them. Dh adjusted the timer on the boiler, and we pottered on with her for a bit trying to tidy up. She's happy to have finally moved, it's been a bit rocky.
How are you Remmie? I sympathise- in February this year I had a new lens put in my right eye, I was in the eye hospital for the day, and was in the same situation as you. However, now that eye is fully healed with the vision much improved, and I got my new glasses back in the spring/early summer. Hope you'll be ok.
Sorry to read about your problems in the house Camelot, hope it gets sorted soon.
Mehefin, your account of those naughty horses made me laugh!
Not much going on here today, I could do with getting a few jobs done here.
Hope everyone has as good a day as they can, take care folks.9 -
Morning folks. All is calm just now but not to last, the gales are expected to arrive by late afternoon. Not looking forward to that.
Finally it's a stay at home day so jobs await if I cba. I had the worst night ever last night, awake more than I was asleep, so don't expect to feel very energetic. The freezers are on the to do list too, with stuff rammed anywhere. It beats me how they get into such turmoil.
Have a good day folks if you can with ((HUGS)) for all in need. REMMIE I had forgotten how annoying it is with one good eye and one poor eye. It will all be worth it in the end. Take care all, especially in the storm. Stay safe xx

Good morning all thanks for starting us off @Gers x
Sorry to hear about your health woes @camelot1001 glad you’re feeling a bit better. The house damp issue sounds horrendous - I do hope it’s sorted soon x
We did some gardening yesterday - DH mowed the lawn, well hoovered up the leaves really. I weeded and mulched another 4 island beds - still another 5 to go - the previous owner did like an island bed!! Despite having the two green waste wheelies emptied, we managed to fill them plus another car load of sacks, so booked a tip run to get rid. DH’s pals are coming to camp this weekend so will be putting tents up in the dark/wind - rather them than me!!I am taking Mum to get paint for her porch (I will paint it for her at a future date) plus a food shop. Hoping to be back by lunchtime, then I can do some tidying.Dinner will be busy as DS1 and DDIL are unexpectedly coming - we will have chicken fajitas and they are bringing a lemon drizzle cake.Well done on the painting @mehefin and hope the horses enjoyed their momentary freedom!!Hope the dog-sitting goes well @Chrisca50 sounds like a busy day ahead x
Have a good day all and hope those of you in the amber zone stay safe xx

Good morning
Thank you for the start @Gers
Wet here so I'll spend time in the garage trying to sort and tidy.
@mehefin well done on the painting
@camelot1001 hope they can sort the damp problems and you feel better soon
Take careIf you walk at night no-one will see you cry.6 -
Morning again - it's still on the dank side and, of course, forecasted to get much worse. Amber warning for wind, yellow warning for rain. Already the main road between near to me and the village is under water and impassable in an ordinary car, been that way since last night. My drive down to Carradale and back was uneventful despite the rain which worsened on the way home. Hair cut and coloured so can face the world again without looking like Worzel! Lunch was a swift bowl of soup and toast with Marmite. My lovely DN arrived back in London this morning from Oz. She's only here for week to attend a wedding. It's so unfortunate that I have already committed to others for most of next week (including a civil ceremony in Glasgow) and won't be able to see her.
My nephew will meet up with her at some point.
I haven't done the monthly banking yet so that's on the agenda for today. I'm ready for the storm, well, as ready as one can be. Candles and matches out. Torches on every door handle with checked batteries. Phone and power bank charged. Fridge has food. Logs brought in and flask washed out ready for use. Now, it's down to sitting it out.Keep safe everyone - batten down. Hugs to all.8 -
Morning all from Mehefinland.
Today is NOT a painting day - just as well as I'm nearly out of paint and will have to get some more!! Tried to get as much of the high stuff done as possible yesterday and I'm aching a bit today. I can reach the rest from a step-up, or even from the floor so that is a relief to get done before the weather turns nasty again.
Went for a walk around the local SSSI with my new friend. Lots of birds which she could identify - just showed how little I knew!! Tide was on the turn and we sat on the beach and watched the various seabirds foraging for a while before repairing to the pub for a drink which turned into a meal - very pleasant too! Home before the rain came in overnight. Dull but dry here currently but the forecast is not encouraging.
The horses were a bit sheepish when I let them out yesterday and wary of the fence - I'm sure they can tell when its switched on or off - must be some charge they can sense? They bounce back pretty quick though and were merrily munching away when I left them.
Harvested a barrowload of pumpkins off the muckheap - size ranges from grapefruit to football. They can go to the library later next week .
Think today may be a sloth day - just need to recharge batteries a little.
Hugs and spoons as always

Morning all. Very dull and dreary here today but I'm thankful I don't have to go to the lengths Gers has to regarding potential storms.
I have put a small load of washing in and have one cake to ice and another to finish off today. Off to DD's tonight for a family meal so looking forward to that.
Our neighbour on the right messaged yesterday to see if DH could witness some paperwork for him. He is now buying a house elsewhere so we will have an empty house either side of us when he goes. They are both let out so I hope we have good neighbours; the previous ones have all been lovely.
Happy Friday everyone7
