Eon Next Smart Saver tariff an IHDs

Hello to all, newbie here…
It is about time to select a different tariff for my energy at home and I stumbled upon this Next Smart Saver one from my current provider, Eon. It looks quite interesting but I am puzzled by a note on the description, saying that the In Home Display will stop working with it. This is because it is not compatible with sending usage data every 30 min. I was wondering if anyone has actual experience with this, is the IHD not working at all, i.e., blank screen and no data, or is it partially working, displaying how many kW are used at any moment but not showing anything about the cost? One would have thought that the spot kW consumption should not be affected by the tariff. I really like this feature since I can instantly find energy hogging appliances, so I would really miss it if I go for this tariff and this is the case. I called Eon but they were not that helpful, they only repeated what’s on their web site…
Thanks!

It will still show the energy being used. They only say it will stop working as the average person uses it to show the cost and has no clue about kWh.

That’s what I am thinking also, and you put it very nicely in context. Do you have this actual tariff and have you seen this working and showing the energy usage yourself?

Worst case just buy a Glow display and CAD. That will show the data independent of whatever cockup your supplier makes.

I don't have Next Smart Saver myself, but (looking at the details) it's a three-rate tariff somewhat like Cosy Octopus or 100Green Tide Smart.
There are several regular forum members on this style of tariff, and they typically report that their IHDs continue to give accurate energy usage.
For those who are interesed, here ae the current rates in the Southern region:
