Does anybody have any idea about the longevity of the cartridges for this?Is there a general principle that the more modern the printer the better/cheaper the running costs? Are one brand batter or worse than any others on this score?ThanksVal0

The descriptions on Play.com give the CL41 as 155 pages and the larger CL51 as 330 pages. The reviewer on there for this printer (£79.99:eek: ) says great printer but the inks don't last long.
Epson and Canon tend to be the cheapest to run as you can buy compatible cartridges easily, whereas Lexmark are hideously expensive. Ink for the slightly older printers tends to be cheaper as competition builds up with the compatibles.
The cartridges for this printer are fairly new so there are not many compatibles about yet, and those there are, are a similar price to the genuine Canon from Play.Com.
This month's Which? has an article on compatibles and says in most cases there is not much difference in quality, although you may have to try a few brands to find the best.
Interestingly, they asked the manufacturers whether using compatibles would affect the warranty and they all said no unless the fault was obviously due to the cartridges.0 -
It seems silly when the cost of buying a new printer including cartridges works out the same (or even less) than buying the replacement cartridges
I recently bought the MP210 when Canon were running a cashback deal so it only cost me £20. However I like the look of this MP460 as it has an LCD screen. Is it a better printer than my MP210? Presumably it is an older model?0 -
I reserved one in CHICHESTER store then found one nearer so if anyone wants the reservation code which expires the end of Wednesday 9th please PM me.Noli nothis permittere te terere.0
