PIP Review

Hello,
I was awarded PIP in 2022 and got 8 points from this assessment. The assesor wrote they couldn't see my condition ever improving but to do a review in 3 years.
Well I had my review assessment on 3/9 and just got my form and i scored 0 points. My Disability effects me far more these days and I am on a lot more medication than i was on when i initially got awarded PIP.
I am just baffled how i can be awarded 0 points.
Just wondering if others have had this result and did you get the decision over turned?

How did you word your review form?
No change or did you add that you had got worse & gave examples?Life in the slow lane0 -
Obtain a copy of your new report, this would have used your last report as a baseline and so any changes should be recorded to explain the reduction in points.
The assessment will be based on the healthcare professionals knowledge of the condition and effects it has on your daily activities, taking into account the evidence provided and your answers to the questionnaire and assessment. Based on all these factors your pip assessment is written and to a decision maker.
Ignore the fact that your previous assessor said your condition improving, they shouldn’t have said this.Request a copy of the report, raise a mandatory reconsideration and get assistance to go through the report.Proud to have dealt with our debtsStarting debt 2005 £65.7K.

Hi, Thanks for the replies.
I was put down for a phone review but I felt i wanted to speak with them face to face and discuss my medical evidence. When I got to the centre the person who should have been assessing me had gone sick and I heard them tell someone you will have to do this next face to face assessment. It got off to a bad start because the assessor had no knowledge of my current medication or how my conditions got worse over the last 3 years ( all documented in my G.P. notes but she hadn't had sight of these).
I just don't know how they can make a decision with out my medical evidence.0 -
It sounds like you definately need a manditory reconsideration. Ask for a copy of the notes the assessor made during your review.0

Im guessing that you had the phone assessment changed to a face to face assessment.
Your assessor, regardless of if its telephone or face to face gets 30 minutes prior to the assessment to review your evidence, questionnaire and any previous assessments. As this is a review they will not read your previous evidence, as your last report would have taken that into account. This would be the base line for your new review. If you’ve sent through new evidence then they would have access to this.
As an assessor doesn't have access to your GP records, can you please expand on what you've said its documented in your gp notes, are you talking about evidence you've provided?
For general knowledge of others, you can make a decision for PIP without medical evidence but it’s up to the claimant to provide it, some evidence is viewed stronger that others eg a consultants letter will be viewed as stronger than a gp letter. Equally evidence is taken from the questionnaire and answers given at assessment. PIP rules state that a claimant should not be penalised for not providing evidence. If you fail to return the questionnaire then your assessment will still take place.

Hi,
When completing my new form I listed all my medication and how all evidence on my disability was listed in my G.P. notes ( have to see G.P. every few months ) so i expected before any review my G.P. would have been contacted, is this not correct? All my hospital notes including my operations, Physio, Pain Clinic, Mental Health Team would have been detailed in my medical record. I provided all hospital addresses, Surgeon Details and Hospital staff details. Yet the only evidence the assessor seemed to have was a copy of my first PIP assessment from 2022. The assessor on the day didn't even know what medication i was taking.
When i completed my form with all details of who need to be contacted to prove what i was saying was fact, who compiles all this information for the assessor?0 -
So all you had on your form was a list of medication and GP and specialists details?0

"I am just baffled how i can be awarded 0 points."
It's confusing here but if indeed your 'how your disabilities affect you' form lacked any details of your relevant disablements for the activities and you expected them to contact others to find out what they were....those others being likely unable to provide suitable relevant information in any case... then this might explain 0 points and especially if the assessor has failed to do their job properly prior to engaging you.
Am I misunderstanding? General advice for reviews is to treat as if new claim... giving full details and updated examples if possible of disablements in relation to all relevant activities. Anything less risks them taking an easy path to conclusions that can be very unhelpful. I don't know if this applies here. (Saving electronic, or manual, copies of what you submit so it can be copy pasted or copied into future reviews and edited as necessary can be good advice to save a lot of work and potential conflicting information)
Anyway... as above... request a copy of assessor's report ASAP from DWP (PIP helpline). And then you need to look at a Reconsideration request.... if that fails to be successful then appeal. Get any up to date evidence ready (and older that remains applicable) but absolutely focus on the activities and which descriptors apply to you. Remember this is your claim.. you are the expert... but you have to show the disablements....they won't go out of their way to seek evidence to help you or at least you should assume they will not at any stage... they typically do not contact anyone prior to an assessment and rely on what you've sent in (and previous assessment probably.. if actually doing their job and here they may have failed). The previous award and underlying assessor report could be very important here... especially if we are talking about conditions that do not improve and you are claiming no improvement (or a worsening)... it may be the current decision doesn't make much sense in relation to that and ultimately you'll be able to overturn the decision at some point."Do not attribute to conspiracy what can adequately be explained by incompetence" - rogerblack1 -

Does your GP, specialist etc know how you are effected, & then be able to this fit into the question asked on the form? (which they will never see)
My Wife hardly see's GP (waste of time) & they would have zero idea how her conditions effect her in daily life. Exactly the same as the specialist's she see's on a regular basis.
It's seems totally strange not to answer any of the question posed on the form & could be the major reason for 0 points.Life in the slow lane0
