NO British Gas Standing Charge on an all electric flat!
Some years ago my mother lived alone in an all electric flat which once I found out that she was still paying British Gas for the standing charge on her gas meter I intervened and informed British Gas that I had Power of Attorney and would no longer be paying British Gas for their standing charge. They insisted that by law they had to install both meters in order for anyone else who came to live there following my mothers demise, would require gas appliances to be fitted (if they had any). My argument was very simple i.e. whenever anyone else decided to move into the all electric flat and had to have their gas appliances suitably installed then THEY could pay the standing British Gas standing charge as it would NOT be paid while my mother was in residence. They realised that they were not going to win the argument so they duly agreed and did not send my mother any more bills for her British Gas standing charge. This could be the way forward for many, many people if they only knew! Good luck.

This has come up many times before when flats were built with both utilities installed but the developer then went on to only fit electric services within the flat.0

AIUI, some suppliers charge for removing an un-needed meter, whilst others don't. See https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6558579/standing-charge-for-gas-supply for example.0
