Record of past house sale prices

Normally it's easy to check past sale prices. However a house near me has gone on sale at what I think is a hugely inflated price.

According to the agent there are no details of previous sale prices achieved. I know that this house has been sold at least 3 times in the last 20 years. I looked at 36 pages of sold prices for our area and sure enough there are no details.

Is it possible for records at Land Registry to be deleted?

If you think it’s worth £3 you can always just buy the title, irrespective of whether the last transaction was in the free price index.

Having purchased a couple of reposessions I know they don't show - possibly because the low price paid appears to skew the market - but that's just something I vaugely remember being told but I can't remember who by.
Mr Generous - Landlord for more than 10 years. Generous? - Possibly but sarcastic more likely.

There are some types of sales which are excluded in the 'Price Paid Data' (but it seems unlikely that all 3 sales would be excluded)...

Or for example, could it be an issue with the address you are searching for? e.g. You are searching using the postal address, but Land Registry records the address differently.

(FWIW, I owned a property on the corner of 2 streets. The postal address was in one street, but Land Registry records gave the address as the other street.)

Isn't the price now £7 per title?

The house may have gone on sale at what you consider to be a hugely inflated price, but what matters is what it actually sells for.

It's also possible it's got some desirable characteristic that other houses nearby don't have - bigger garden, plot location, view, internal configuration etc.

Possibly! As long as the OP knows to get it from the gov.uk site (assuming we’re talking about England or Wales) and not one of the looky-likely sites.

In the link posted by strawb for gov.uk site it says £7 in the "how much does it cost" section.

    I could be wrong.

Thanks everyone. I am only mildly curious and certainly don't want to put any effort (or £7) into why it's not listed.

Hey, you may be on to something. Both the previous owners were bankrupts when house sold.
