Broadband speed test

Hi looking for a bit of ' education'
Virgin installed and reasonable happy. Provided with Cisco samknows.com speed test. Snapshot readings are
Router 135 @2mtr,
Router 130 @ 15mtr
Smart TV on own speed tester 25 @15mtr.
A virgin wifi pod ( extender) tried in various areas but doesn't appear to improve TV speed or readings.

As mentioned much improved from BT overhead copper lines/fibre but cannot understand why smart tv's showing such a drop.

It might be to do with the wifi card and software in the TV?  I have a work laptop which is dire.  A speedtest shows about 15Mbps, yet if I do the speedtest in exactly the same location with my phone, I get close to 300Mbps.  Same goes for our TV upstairs, sometimes buffers or scales the resolutino down to 3pixels per mile, despite my phone saying I'm receiving 300Mbps
  • So no work around?
I have even slung an ethernet cable across to the TV without much imrovement

Sounds like a restriction with the TV. Unless it is capable of 4k streaming it does not need to be able to run faster.

This is going to be a crucial question. A Full HD TV only needs 5 to 8Mbps, if it's a few years old it won't have an application processor or application memory capable of much more than 25Mbps when testing. And could well have an older NIC limited to 100Mbps (I've even seen them with old 54Mbps wireless chipsets)
