Currys Faulty Dishwasher

Yesterday Currys delivered and fitted a new dishwasher. They put a 30 minute short cycle on to check it was running and left. Within 15 minutes the washer was beeping and flashing the F1 error code. I turned the machine off, but the drain was still running. Whenever the machine is switched on at the plug the drain is constantly running, despite the machine being 'off'. Currys sent people out this morning to check to see whether it was a problem with the fitting or with the machine, they confirmed that the machine is faulty. They told me that Currys would try and make us contact the manufactorer but that this was illegal and they were responsible for exchanging or refunding a faulty product, (bear in mind these a Currys staff members informing me of this).

I have contacted Currys and been informed that they will not deal with the problem, and I need to go through the manufacturers directly myself. When I refused they told me that they would, in that case, be leaving me with the faulty product and they would not be doing anything.

The dishwasher was only in my house for half an hour before it stopped working, it was delivered to me faulty and now I'm left having to jump through hoops and fight for my rights after spending £400 with them. I'm at a loss for what to do because when I contacted the manufacturer they told me that they did not deal with this directly with customers.

How can I get Currys to accept their responsibility and exchange my dishwasher for one that isn't faulty, because as far as I'm concerned they delivered a faulty item to me. It hasn't even been used.

  • OP you need to advise Currys you are exercising the short term right to reject as the dishwasher does not conform to the contract, if customer service still fob you off raise the complaint higher.

F1 is almost certainly the anti-flood error, which is either a fault with the machine or the installation.
