One UI 8 & connecting to a PC

Samsung 24+. Various annoyances with this new update but I'll start with the one that's causing me the most bother so far.
Before the update to OUI8 I would connect my phone to my [Win10] PC & I found that so long as the phone was 'opened' then I could access the files via File Explorer ok.
Since the update to OUI8 it tells me every time that it's only connected for charging & I need to manually select (every time) that I want to transfer files ......... and THEN it allows me.
Is it possible to have it set so that this is done automatically?

Try going to USB Settings --> Use USB for
and set to Transferring files / Android Auto.
Can't test properly since only have Win 11 but seems to work OK.0 -
Enable Developer Options, open Settings > Developer options. Find "Default USB configuration" and set it to Transferring Files2

I was doing yours before making this thread, but have to repeat it every time.
Although I've just gone in to settings now, searched developer options, searched default usb & nothing is coming back.
I'll take a closer look when I'm not at work to see if I can get to it.0 -
Have you enabled developer mode?
Go to Settings > About phone > Software information, then tap the Build number seven times in a row until a confirmation message appears.Drinking Rum before 10am makes you

Just FYI, by tapping, turning round three times etc. you can also unlock Connectivity Labs for WiFi and more features in Gallery Labs on Galaxy mobis.0

Unless I'm thinking back to when I had an S20 or S10 & I'm getting the phones mixed up. I certainly remember doing that though.
Sorted now.0
