                    Hi MSE forumites,
My ex wife managed to get a CCJ against her with a Solicitor's firm sticking a charging order on the property (which is jointly owned under a Mesher Order), I've just been refused PCH Car Credit from Ford with little information as to why however the letter states it could be in connection with other financial associated persons. My score shows as 999.
Putting 2+2 together I can only suggest this Charging order is the issue and will be an issue for me going forward until it's satisfied (when the house is sold at the end of the Mesher Order).
Can anyone advise if I can do anything to mitigate this in the meantime, the ex and I obviously remain financially associated via the joint mortgage.
Thank you in advance

There is not really much you can do. You are financially linked, the only way to end that would be to sell the property, which might make sense if your wife is bad enough with money to get a CCJ if you can make it work.moneytorques said:Hi MSE forumites,

The other thing you can do, probably more sensible and the most MSE thing you can do is to save up and then buy the car rather than buy it on finance, and see what deals are around second hand if the car you were looking at was new.0 -

Yes she continues to be very bad with money, the absolute travesty of this CCJ is that it was issued by her Solicitor's during our Family matters dispute, I don't know why they thought it acceptable to give her £5k of credit up front.MattMattMattUK said:

I assume that with a CCJ, even if I were to settle it myself (possible as not my debt?) it would remain on file for 6 years?
Also I am only looking at leasing a car which costs less than predicted depreciation so the economy works for me. I'm going to try another lender and see if credit can still be provided to me first.0 -

It would normally be because there is an asset used as security so totally allowable. Either an asset that was likely to be disposed of potentially pay from her income, the fact that she spent money on other things leaving her unable to pay is why they needed to go down the CCJ route.moneytorques said:

The CCJ would remain on her file for six years, but the charging order would be removed from the property once the confirmation of payment had been fully processed. You would need a court order to amend asset split to cover the £5k and that would likely cost several thousand in itself, it may also just become an enabling factor for her to get into additional debt which would lead to a repeat of the current situation, where as now she has a CCJ it will be very difficult if not impossible for her to obtain any further borrowing.moneytorques said:I assume that with a CCJ, even if I were to settle it myself (possible as not my debt?) it would remain on file for 6 years?
That does not make it more economical, you still have to take the hit of depreciation as well as interest. If you can save up and then buy second hand someone else will have taken the majority of the hit of depreciation and by saving up and then buying you will not be paying any interest (and can indeed earn it whist saving).moneytorques said:Also I am only looking at leasing a car which costs less than predicted depreciation so the economy works for me.
If you are set on the debt route it may be worth trying a few loan options as they will also offer an estimate of being able to get the loan which would take account of the financial association and it's impact.moneytorques said:
