hi
I am appointee for my Brother. He has Downs syndrome (58), he has never had paid work. I have had a letter saying that he is migrating to universal credit. I have a day off work this week so I am going to find time to call. What information will I need to hand? is it difficult to get through to the freephone number supplied

You can see a dummy form here:

It's easier to claim online because you'll have access to an online account known as the Journal.
Claiming by phone means no online account and administering the claim by phone & post.
Once you start the claim online, at various points you can save the form, safely leave and come back later to fill in more. Any edits can be made once you have answered all the questions. You have 28 days to submit the form after starting.
If you need any assistance Citizens Advice have a Help to Claim service, they can support you before during and after the claim. It's a national service run by phone and webchat not linked to your local branch.
