The £5 part I need is discontinued. The only way I can get one is to buy it along with a pump - total cost = Approx £140.

Is this a rant or a question? If the latter, wouldn't it be reasonable to post the model and a photo?0

I'm guessing it's the part numbered 10 on this diagram? If so, it looks as though AquaLisa have changed the model of their pump such that the equivalent new part doesn't fit the old one.N. It could be worse and need a complete replacement shower (ca £600 plus installation).
Could the part be 3-D printed?
A 3-D printer and supplies might cost a lot more than the replacement pump assembly though.2 -
Do you have a good pic of the actual part?0

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CJxi9-UdF_ECool, in which case you simply bond it in place permanently.Roughen up the mating surfaces, and use summat like StixAll, or possibly a two-part adhesive like 'Araldite' might be better. Also slip a spacer in between the wide flange part and the case, to add extra bracing.Have you taken yours apart to show both ends?

You could look on somewhere like ebay and see if there are any cheap second hand parts or whole unit you can cannibalize1

Thanks very much for that interesting fix - well worth pondering. I haven't taken them out yet but here's the combined unit:WIAWSNB said:Cool, in which case you simply bond it in place permanently.Roughen up the mating surfaces, and use summat like StixAll, or possibly a two-part adhesive like 'Araldite' might be better.
