I think this needs to be considered as a series of sequential questions.

1.  Should I get a new car?

2.  Should that new car be an EV?

3.  Is the work-place SS scheme the best way of financing that EV?

(I realise that there may be some iteration as the tax gains of the SS scheme may alter the calculations for (1) and (2) above.)

In considering the SS scheme, be sure to understand the impact there may be on your pension scheme funding.
