Charge back for small amount

I brought something from a website I thought was UK based, the quality is not great on enquiring about a return they want me to post to China even though no mention is made of being China based. The returns page even references a London address. The cost of the item is £30 and the postage will eat that up etc.
Can I get may card to do a charge back or similar

Doing a chargeback AND keeping the item? Probably not.0

I'm happy to return it to a UK address. But they said if I return to the UK address on the website they won't accept. So not sure if it's a postal box0

You would need to have evidence of returning it per the merchants instructions so to China. The problem is even if you do return it its likely the merchant will never receive it, tracking tends to stop when it hits China so they can then contest the chargeback on the basis the goods haven't been received back.th081 said:I brought something from a website I thought was UK based, the quality is not great on enquiring about a return they want me to post to China even though no mention is made of being China based. Many of these companies offer discounts to encourage you to keep the goods, this tends to be your best bet but even then not all actually pay you the discount they promised0 -
Thanks so even though the site gives no indication it is returns to China. Seems like a bit of a scam.MyRealNameToo said:

The question would be whether £30 is a reasonable price for the item or if it was so cheap it was obviously drop shipped from China. Similarly, if the £30 item was likely to be good quality based on the pricing of similar items.
An example would be an action camera, for £30 you would expect something very basic and limited battery/video quality so if you were complaining that you didn't get much for your money, you wouldn't really have a leg to stand on. If you bought a travel mug that lost heat in 5 minutes, you might well have a complaint.
Does the site not have terms and conditions saying where the return address is? If the item is not as described/faulty then why are you paying to send it back?
Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:
People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

Quality is not covered by chargebacks as it is a very subjective matter.th081 said:I brought something from a website I thought was UK based, the quality is not great on enquiring about a return they want me to post to China even though no mention is made of being China based. Possibly, but thats why you do your due diligence before buying from a firm you've never heard of before. Many people fall for these types of websites but if you know what to look for many are very clearly overseas and you can be fairly certain that returns will go back overseas with the associated coststh081 said:
