Ebay Evri drop off issues

My local Evri drop-off is very handy as it's just 10 minutes walk away.
However, they now only accept small packages. Anything larger than a typical shoe box gets refused.
I just tried to drop off a shoe box containing a pair of boots (so a little larger than your typical shoe box) and the shop owner refused to take it.
I pointed out it was light (2.2kg) and he said the weight is not the problem.
He says that the usual Evri van driver rummages through the parcels and picks out any large ones and leaves them in the shop. The driver says that this is because they take up too much room in his van. The boxes remain in the shop for a few days until a different driver collects them.
Has anyone else experiened this? It's a real pain in the neck!

This causes the shop owner trouble as he sometimes ends up with 10-12 boxes getting in his way. As a result he has implemented the "small packages only" rule.
On an incidental point, he does this for UPS as well (same reason).

I'm not surprised as many shops taking parcels are very small. It's not helped that carriers offer drop off services for quite large parcels that get refused at many of the drop off points. In my case I have to go to Argos to drop off larger DPD boxes, passing several other drop off shops along the way that would not take them.0

My local Tesco Express has ceased taking Evri deliveries as a result of their lack of space and issues with delays in collection both Evri and Customers Collecting Parcels, the other nearby local shop also often stops taking parcels when they have too many and are waiting for Evri to collect. It's not ideal!0

My local Co-op refuse anything bigger than a large boot box for the same reason. No space in the van. YodelLove living in a village in the country side0
