Smart meter for Heatwell electric boiler and RTS switch-off issue

I currently have two meters, one for the Heatwell electric CH+HW boiler and the other for the rest of the electricity in the flat, and am on the Scottish Power Comfort Plus Control tariff (standard rate + "control rate"). Scottish Power are trying to give me a smart meter and put me on their white meter (day/night) tariff, but I don't think that's right. With Comfort Plus (formerly Economy 2000) they use the RTS to switch off the electric boiler charging for 2x 2hr periods a day and give me a slightly reduced rate. But with the white meter tariff, the electric boiler would only be charging at night (like old electric storage heaters) won't they? and there's not enough capacity to do heating all day. Scottish Power are not very helpful - they don't seem to understand this system. Does anyone have any experience with this type of system or any suggestions?
