Universal credit while have DEO

I'm currently working while also claiming universal credit. Each month, my universal credit payment is adjusted based on my earnings.
I've been told that I'll now have deductions of earning against my wages for other debts, can anyone tell me if Universal Credit use the salary before DEO is taken or the figure after that has been removed?

Salary (minus tax/NI/pension) before any deductions for debt recovery. If it was salary after deductions for debt recovery then, due to the earnings taper, UC (taxpayers) would be contributing towards repaying your debt.5
