DLA

Hello,
My 16yo child has just moved back home with me to continue further education and has a disability.
Around two years ago when diagnosed, I specifically asked the mother to put in an application for DLA for our child in which she informed me was declined.
My child moved back home at the start of this month and has since materialised that they have been in-receipt of a DLA award which has recently been stopped when they became 16 and transfered over to PIP - yet did not meet the points needed for the award.
I asked Mum to appeal this simply because the DWP won’t discuss it with me because there is an appointee on the claim.
What also worries me is that the mother has overall received in excess of £12,000 over the past two years from DLA and cannot specify where the funds have been spent - nobody had been made aware of this information and monies have never been declared to us, the mother is the only person who knew about the award.
This morning DLA inform me that a payment of £309 was sent for our child on 16 Sep 25 and paid to the mother who tells us she has not recieved it.
PIP are now considering changing the appointee over to me even though it has been refused - there is a reconsideration going through.
Any info would help.
Thanks

She is his appointee. She is under no obligation to share with you where or how the money was spent.
If your child has a disability, the money is for disability related expenses and extra associated costs. Presumably that’s where the money went. That and the cost of bringing up a teenage child.Perhaps she knows exactly where it went and doesn’t appreciate being interrogated? All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -
As your child is now living with you it us right you should try and get the bank account details and appointee changed. Is your child able to confirm to the dwp they accept you being appointee?0
