Good morning
Thank you for the start @Gers
Gosh it's turned chilly with torrential rain yesterday.
I've just put some chicken thighs in the slow cooker, so that's lunch sorted for a few days.
If you are reading along taff I hope you are okay.
Take careIf you walk at night no-one will see you cry.14 -
Good morning, thanks Gers.
It's a bit grey here but dry.
We've started to have the heatng on for 2 hours in the early morning, the house has been so cold, and the heated throws are out. Haven't used them yet but they are ready.
We are meeting friends from Australia this afternoon, in Durham, they are just arriving about now into Manchester. They are going to feel cold I think - I did tell them to bring some warmish things as we are going into Autumn.
Hope everyone is ok, and has good days.
Take care folks.14 -
Morning all
Dry here but very cold and with a sharp wind it does not look very inviting out there!I am off to meet my new lad today I will go to his house first and then sort out what we are doing, his mum told me yesterday that he has a residential placement from mid October assuming funding is agreed so the job will be ending soon, I was expecting it so not much of a shock I have not been given notice yet but expect to soon. I applied for two new jobs yesterday so will see what comes of them.
Dinner tonight will be something quick with chips maybe egg and bacon will see what we feel like later, I have put a wash on this morning which can go on the airer once done.
Have good days all and take care xx13 -
Good morning @Gers and thanks for starting us off.Chilly here too. I am taking DS2 to a team assessment type interview today at an A!di distribution centre. He’s very nervous as it sounds like a maths assessment and a verbal reasoning task too. This from a computer science graduate with an A in maths A level - bless him. I will go for a mooch around B&M whilst he’s there. Dinner will be pork and apple burgers.Hope you’re feeling better @RosyRed. X
Have a great time with your friends @ScarletRibbons. X
Have a good day everyone

Morning again - good luck to your DS2 @Coxy, I'm sure he'll be fine with those qualifications behind him. I hope that all goes well with your new lad @Ruby, and more good luck in getting new work soon. As someone asked yesterday, did you ever receive any feedback on your complaint to the MP about Rob??@Snoozer - yes, the cold days are on the way back. Yesterday turned into a chilly though fine day and last night the sky was blazing in a way I haven't seen for ages so today may well be lovely too. After taking away the food waste and doing a single item shop I settled into a semi-slothful mode though poked myself hard enough to get up and deal with a couple of rose bushes. The big one in the back garden (the one which broke in half because of the wind) has now been deadheaded and pruned of the awful stems. My beautiful one (which got blown over in the high winds) is now also deadheaded and looking neat. Amazingly, it has lots more buds about to bloom despite all the punishment it's taken.I caught up with the final episode of Dexter - Resurrection and am now ready and waiting for Slow Horses. A birthday present I'd ordered from M&S is now waiting for collection but I won't go today, my throat is rather raspy, probably caught something over the weekend of travel and people, so I'll hunker down with hot drinks and throat lozenges, neither of which do anything more than comfort me!
}I hope that everyone is doing well, those who are away or travelling and those who simply busy at home with family and friends. Hugs to all.13 -
Morning everyone
Yesterday turned out to be a lovely sunny day, after work I sorted the weeds growing between the paving stones in the back garden. By 7pm though it was dark and cold...I had to succumb and put the heating on downstairs for a couple of hours. My new electric blanket was delivered too so it was lovely and cosy getting into bed.
No work today so I'm stewarding at our local cinema for the Downton Abbey film this morning, I'm looking forward to it. Later I need some shopping and want to make time to read my Sunday Times.
good luck to your son Coxy
Hope everyone has a good day x11 -
Morning all, a bit gloomier today after a nice couple of sunny days. Had a good walk this morning. I have a delivery from Tes** later on, after tea, not much happening today apart from getting DGS from school. I've taken a chicken dish out for tea. Thanks @Coxy11 much better today, and I hope DS does well at his interview.@RedRuby1234 , hope you find something suitable, good luck.Never tried Dexter, Gers , but looking forward to the new season of Slow Horses too. We've been having the heating on too for a bit , but I do need to alter the timings- doesn't need to come on as early now DH hasn't been going out to work since his op but he did walk up to see DS2 at work yesterday afternoon , and stayed a bit, thinking he's getting a bit bored now, and he's on the last book we have got here of a long series.Need to see if there are any more!Take care all.:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. Morning all and thanks for the start @Gers. After another chilly night, once again it's sunny and clear today with light winds, no rain expected. Just how Autumn days are supposed to be. I've been having some heating on in the mornings but I think it might soon be time for a short boost at lunchtime and early evenings too.
All planned jobs done yesterday, apart from baking a cake. The SM delivery driver was running late so, by the time I'd unpacked and put everything away, it was a bit late in the day to start baking. Two more spiders evicted from the bathroom, thankfully not the huge fat hairy ones; these were the ones with the teeny tiny bodies and long spindly legs. Later in the evening DS phoned to give me an update on his DP who had been in hospital as a day patient for a procedure (women's stuff). Everything went well and she's back home, although not thrilled with a sick note for two weeks - I think she thought she'd need just a couple of days off work.
Today I may or may not go to the CS; I have two parcels on their way and I'm waiting on the courier to give me a delivery time slot before I decide. Not to worry, I can be flexible and have plenty to do while I'm waiting. Tea tonight is a lightly battered fish fillet with peas and sweetcorn.
@Scarlet - Your Australian friends are going to feel the cold!
@Ruby - Fingers crossed the two job applications go well.
@Coxy - Good luck to DS2 with his job interview. Always a nerve wracking experience.
@Gers - Look after that raspy throat. I wonder if the buds on the rose bush will actually flower now it's getting colder?
@dp1 - Enjoy the film tonight.
@Rosy - Hope you're successful with the hunt for more books for DH.
That's it for now so take care all and have a good day. XBe kind to others and to yourself too.7 -

There are more than shown here. Good news about your DH.@Rosy - I haven't watched every series of Dexter, probably only the first one and the final two. I'm putting off watching Slow Horses until later this afternoon.

@Gers - It certainly looks healthy enough to continue blooming for some time to come and give you pleasure.
A ginger cake made, just need to be patient for it to get sticky, but I'll own up to having had just a small tester piece.
