Electric heater recommendations

Hi all,
My MIL is feeling the cold very badly and the coal fire the house has isn't doing much to keep her warm. She know the coal fire needs to be replaced, however, she has suffered a number of bereavements and so getting it replaced is not really something she's able to do.
We live 300 miles from her so we are limited in terms of what we can do to help, but we wanted to order her a small electric heater, possibly a convector one, however, each one I look at on Amazon have lots of bad reviews.
The Which? website is asking me to pay a membership fee to look at their list of best buys, but the cheapest membership is £79 and seems a lot to pay for one list.
Can anyone recommend a good electric heater that we could have sent to her?
Thanks.

Argos is good for reviews. This is the sort of thing you should be looking for: Buy Challenge 2kW Convector Heater | Heaters and radiators | Argos
Simple to use and with a thermostat. The comments I post are my personal opinion. While I try to check everything is correct before posting, I can and do make mistakes, so always try to check official information sources before relying on my posts.0 -
Your local library may have a Which? Subscription.
I have a small electric radiator which is on wheels and is effective.

Buy her an electric throw. They cost pennies to run and and keep you very snug.4

You can normally get offers where you can get which for a trial for about a quid for a week. My experience of them is that then many of their recommendations are very out of date and I’ve not found them particularly helpful.
is she just going to use it to heat the one room and move it round as needed? All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -

All electric space heaters are equally effective at turning electricity into heat.Avoid anything that's sold as a "miracle heater", as that's (i) impossible and (ii) likely to burn down your house.Keep_pedalling said:Buy her an electric throw. Do what the last two posts recommend.
If her coal fire isn't doing much good it sounds like she has a badly maintained, poorly insulated house with a huge hole in her living room open to the sky.
Electric space heaters would just be an expensive waste of her money.1 -
If fireplace is not being used fit a Chimney Sheep to help cut down on the draughts.
Check what energy tariff your MIL is on and whether her supplier has help for the elderly schemes3 -

What about infrared heater - cost a bit more but heat the objects in the room, not the air - I have couple which work well for me0
