Sorry for another post, but they escalated to a manger. The advice is that I should do a return this year but there's an updated box on the online form that allows us to opt in to this service, meaning this year's tax return will be my last. I'm not sure I believe it... I'll keep an eye on this thread!

What you have been told is complete nonsense.

The box on the return they are referring to is simply to keep your tax code up to date, this has always been possible with HICBC and it wouldn't mean you stop having to compete tax returns.

The way to avoid tax returns (if HICBC is the only reason for needing to do one) is to use this new service.
