Weed growing out of airbrick?

I apologise if this is a silly question. Bought a house not long ago  and noticed weed/plant growing out of I think is an airbrick shown in picture below. Can I just pull them out or do I need some weed killer?

I'd be using some weed killer to ensure the roots get nuked.  If there are animals about then supposedly the thing to do is to get most the weed into a bag (garbage bag, something without holes) and spray the weed in there and then tie the bag shut.  It will protect most animals from being harmed by any weed killer but still do the trick as the stuff won't get washed off when it rains.  Once it's dead, tug away.

I'd just pull it carefully and hope the roots come out with it. They should do as it's unlikely the soil in there will be compacted, but if they don't, it's no real biggie - I'd pull it out again or weedkiller it if it grew back next year.

Many thanks for your responses. I have pulled the weeds. But it seems that root is stuck as shown in photo below.

Spray that with a systemic weedkiller - zap it to its roots.
If another pops its head through the vent, ditto

I think weed has taken root in crack in render near lefthand corner of airbrick
