After I escaped the driveway (really should have shovelled it first), it was ok (stormont - city centre). That said the traffic was moving at no more than 20 mph and we were down to one lane.
I got the best nights sleep in months though - In 9 months, the only thing that has succeeded in slowing the traffic on the main road by our house (which is actually a 30mph anyhow), has now been the snow.2 + 2 = 4
except for the general public when it can mean whatever they want it to.0 -
I am on a day off today thank god. It took me an hour to do the 12 miles home from work last night(Lisburn to Crumlin). Got up this morning and there is even more snow, about 6-7 inches deep."Gort, klaatu barada nikto"

I'm off today anyway but have to go out in a bit. Not looking forward to it - can't stand snow.
Are we due any more?0 -
East Belfast came to a near standstill, though the buses are going again. I just worked from home, much safer.
Supposedly more snow forecast, then rain after thatNorn Iron Club Member No. 252 :beer:0 -
My car got stuck in the road! I was boxed in as well so couldn't even reverse it back again until a neighbour came to the rescue. DH has banned me from even going out to the corner shop as I'm five months pregnant so I hope the tv is good! Anyone else notice that the BBC haven't changed the forecast from rain while there's a headline right underneath the weather sayong how bad the snow is? Duffers.0

My DH had to abandon his car about a mile from home last night. It took him nearly 2 hours to get from Downpatrick to Saintfield but as we're on a country road he could't make the last stretch (his car is rear wheel drive). He hasn't been able to get to work today as the snow is about 6"-7" deep here. Waiting for the rain to come so that we can go and rescue his car.Member #7 SKI-ers Club

10 to 12 inches with me in Derriaghy - couldn't get my car out of the drive and have given up. Day off now I've cleared it with work!Life in this world is, as it were, a sojourn in a cave. What can we know of reality? For all we can see of the true nature of existence is, shall we say, no more than bewildering and amusing shadows cast upon the inner wall of the cave by the unseen blinding light of absolute truth, from which we may or may not deduce some glimmer of veracity, and we as troglodyte seekers of wisdom can only lift our voices to the unseen and say humbly "Go on, do deformed rabbit again.....it's my favourite". © Terry Pratchett in "Small Gods"
