Morning again - it's still dark'ish here, the emerging light has red streaks in the sky, not sure if that's good or bad.My shopping trip went well yesterday, I was in and out in under half an hour. I took a little detour on the way back to the local Timpson's as I thought that my watch needed a new battery. The lovely chap there took the back off it, tested the battery and declared it perfectly fine. He then gave the interior a brush and then made sure that the crown was properly screwed in and pushed down. I suspect that it wasn't secured properly which probably made the hands move without me knowing. Anyway, it's all good. The gardener chap came as planned (rescheduled date) and quickly got screws / nails / hooks and wires up on the back wall of the garden. Now I can grow a clematis again and make sure that my rose can be anchored in the wind. He also freed up the back bedroom window which, oddly, was jammed. Not sure why as it usually flows freely. The cleaner couldn't move it last week as it was stuck fast. Now it's freed and been given shots of WD-40 and is open a crack again. He'll come back in early January to deal with my overgrown rose at the front. My day was made when the postie brought me the appointment letter for the clinic I've been waiting for since late July. It's not until mid-October but I'm still happy.I had some leftover Chinese takeaway for lunch, there's enough left of today too. Anything left after today will not be eaten! My only plan is to go out with some food waste and buy a TV guide. There's a couple of programmes I want to watch and clear off the recorder, it's a mighty life these days!Take care all.12

Morning all and thanks for the start @Gers - glad you had a good time away and hurrah to great travel logistics. You have been busy since you came back, don’t overdo it!!
I was semi-successful at the big mall yesterday. Did two loops of the two floors but still had to order a couple of bits online which should arrive today. Felt very tired last night and a niggly headache which I think is due to a diffuser I received for my birthday. It’s very strong so I’ve moved it from the lounge to the dining room/study. No doubt it will move again today!!ILs are coming for coffee this morning then DH and I are taking Mum to see a house with annexe that DSis and BIL are thinking of buying. Dinner is grilled gammon steaks, vegetable rice and fine green beans. How lovely to be in Cornwall @AlwaysAllie enjoy the landscape x
That was a bargain on the puzzle balls @dp1 - I remember DD had a 101 dalmatians one which took forever….
I noticed mince pies in A!di with a sell by date of end of Oct @YorksLass - ridiculous and makes them less special in a way. Just like eating hot cross buns year round - crazy!!Cross-stitch WIP: Haberdashery Shop Fiver Friday challenge 2025 founding member 😊 Read 25 books in 2025 18/25 Currently reading It Starts With Us by Colleen Hoover17 -
Good morning, thanks Gers.
It's fine here, but chilly, autumnal as the forecasters say.
Not much going on today, a bit of shopping and the quiz tonight.
Enjoy Cornwall Allie, have a great time.
Hope everyone is ok and has good days, take care folks.15 -
Good morning
Its overcast here at present, yesterday was a lovely autumn day, well what I saw of it.
My eye appointment went well, at least it did when we found the clinic. The sat navs took us the wrong way, well according to OH who isnt the best at following them, he was certain he knew a better way. Anyway, I arrived only 5 minutes late! The staff were very pleasant but businesslike, which gave me confidence. I'm booked in to have my first eye done on Saturday, so will leave the nerves until then, but thanks everyone for telling me it will be fine. The funny thing was when OH came to collect me he said I was the youngest to come out, and I'm 70 at the end of the year.
Trying to get back to normal today after a week of stressing. Either sausages or chicken kievs for tea.
Allie, enjoy your break, a friend lives in Cornwall, I must try to visit her.
Have a good day all, take care.

Morning all from sunny but cold Mehefinland.
Managed two hours of 'painting' the blasted rough cast wall yesterday - it's hard going ! Not as if you can swish the stuff on but have to stipple it into all the cracks etc. It is exhausting. However it was on the sunny side of the house which was a mixed blessing as I am using Brilliant white and the glare was considerable - I ended up wearing my sunglasses!!
For a change of scene I went and litter picked from my house to the next junction, about 600yards or so and half filled a big recycle bag. It was black bag day here today so I knew that it would be collected and not fester somewhere until they deigned to pick it up. All gone by 8am this morning. A great variety of bits and bobs this time, although I seem to be out of the McD, Costa range currently- perhaps its the time of year as usually there is loads of the rubbish generated by fast food outlets. Still annoying picking up other people's inconsiderate actions. And don't get me started on dog poo bags!!!
Choir last night - oh my word I am so out of practice!! Many years since I sight read on the fly -- hard work but enjoyable.
Enjoy whatever the weather throws at you - glorious sunshine here currently bit I'm waiting until it warms up before continuing the labours of Hercules ie the paint job lol
Hugs and spoons as always

Morning all
Dry and bright here but with a chill in the air no heating on yet we will try and hold out a bit longer but Im sure the log burner will be in use within a few weeks, which reminds me I have to phone the chimney sweep and get him out before we use it.
I only have one person coming today as the other one is on holiday, we are going to meet out friends for lunch and then they will shoot off as the girl my friend looks after has moved house so they have a lot to do, and then we will wander round a couple of shops and have a cuppa somewhere.
Dinner tonight will be cottage pie which I will try and make this morning proper comfort food and just right when it’s a bit chilly.
We have a new window cleaner coming today to give us a price, the last one stopped coming without notice 🙄 it wasn’t till I messaged him to ask where he was that he said that they have stopped doing them. This new one can hopefully do mine and mums.
Have good days all and take care xx14 -
Morning all. It's certainly colder here; DH lit some tea lights on the hearth last night
I'm off to get some bits and bobs done today as later on in the week will get busy. I'm also having my hair cut early afternoon and then need to pick up a voucher elsewhere for a birthday present.
Sausagemeat patties in brioche rolls tonight, with salad and coleslaw. The patties were just the rest of the gf sausage roll mix that DH made a couple of weeks ago so they can be eaten and free up a minute amount of freezer space.
Happy Tuesday everyone.15 -
Morning folks and thanks GERS.
No frost this morning but still felt blooming cold so put the heating on till I showered. Now fed and watered and under the heated throw. Yesterday ended up quite warm outside so I actually sat out with a book for a while. It promises to be the same today.
ALLIE I am envious. We went to Cornwall a lot when the kids were younger. We all love it down there.
Have a good day all,Ali take care xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"13 -
Morning allCold out there this morning. I had a clear out of my freezer and found some ciabatta rolls and fruit buns that had been in there A LONG TIME! I broke them up and put them out for the birds/foxes/squirrel whoever gets there first this morning. If there are any seagulls about they will annihilate them in a heartbeat.I meant to say @RedRuby1231 did you ever get any feedback from your MP re Rob?Have a good day all x10
