Faulty building work query.

Hello all.
Over Christmas and New Year of 2020/2021 we had the outside of our house rendered by a local company who were recommended to us, and as I was away 2 or 3 weeks at a time driving an hgv my better half dealt with them. Everything was paid for by bank transfer but we have no paperwork, just an invoice.
Whilst the render was being applied, large sections of it slid off the walls overnight. This was subsequently reapplied but within a few months more areas began flaking off, usually after heavy rain.
From the start I've contacted them by text (all saved) asking them to sort it out and they've basically given me the runaround. Occasionally they've turned up and done a half-arsed repair but the gable end of the house is a nightmare! They've given me every excuse under the sun, told me the product is faulty and asked me to contact the manufacturer of the product they used. They also told me that "...multiple renderers in the northeast are taking them to court...". The manufacturers told me, and I quote, "We're part of an Italian company who spend millions on R&D, no-one is taking us to court."
The area rep for the product manufacturer got involved and told me that he gave the renderers a few hundred pounds of product to sort the problem out but nothing has been done. I've threatened the renderers with legal action but they continue to fob me off. The latest, about a month ago, was an email from them saying that they can't afford to pay for the house to be scaffolded but if I pay for that they'll sort the work out.
I've paid for it once so I'm not prepared to spend even more money, I've genuinely had more than enough of all this and feel that legal action is the final option.
Advice appreciated.
Martyn.

Martyn.Cold temperatures can significantly impact the curing process of render, potentially resulting in poor adhesion, cracking, or other issues. The company would obviously know this.0
