Recall on Candy heat pump condenser tumble dryer

After 3 recalls on a Candy tumble dryer that has a threat of setting on fire! B&Q have agreed to replace it.
It turns out when the sales person was reducing items to get my new kitchen under a certain cost, one of the items reduced was the tumble dryer.
B&Q originally offered a replacement / credit note to the same value as the reduced tumble dryer then at managers discretion the offer has increased to £400 the cheapest replace dryer of a similar spec is £500 so we would have to pay the difference for no fault of our own!
The original dryer price was £548.00
Not only have we been sold a defective product, not fit for purpose, there’s also a risk of it catching fire.
Advice greatly appreciated

If you were to reject after 6 months they could reduce for usage so important question is how long have you had the dryer OP?
If £100 extra to buy similar spec covers say 2-3 years of use you might be even with their £400 offer. In the game of chess you can never let your adversary see your pieces1 -

They are paying you DOUBLE what you paid for the item, which is 2 years old.
