Asda Parkingeye PCN

We have received a PCN for Asda Peterborough. Its 2 hours for free. It says to call into the store if you need more time. I am going to write to Asda to ask them to intervene but wondered if i need to refer to the driver as ‘the driver’ when writing to Asda?
Brief facts… My husband was unwell on the day. He suspected he had detached his retina. He walked into town from Asda and went from optician to optician asking for help. The second optician confirmed he had detached his retina and telephoned the hospital for an emergency appointment. The hospital kept the optician on hold for ages. The car was parked for 2 hours 16 minutes. We had no idea that the parking had gone over the 2 hours.
I have already been to the shop to ask if they can help but the lady was not in the least bit interested. She said we should have come in on the day and she could have done something on the computer but now there was nothing she could do. I suspect its not the easiest place to work and so I didn’t push it further.
I am going to write to the parking people at Asda and the CEO. Do I still need to refer to the ‘driver’? I think it will sound a bit funny but i will give it a go.
I might try going back to Asda this afternoon to see if i can speak to a different customer services representative because they might be more amenable.
Thanks for any advice.
Thanks for any advice.
If plan A(1) and A(2) fails i will post the full details and signs etc.

Yep try again and ask for a manager. Asda can and will cancel PCNs after the event. They have a direct 'cancellations' email or portal. I helped a friend get that done at Brighton Asda last month. You just need a manager if the CS staff fob you off.
By the way don't let them try the old chestnut 'we don't own the car park'.
Yes they do. ParkingEye do NOT own car parks.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

@Coupon-mad I went back in today and a different customer services rep and her manager were much more helpful. They suggested I contacted Parkingeye but I said they are not very helpful and i was sure Asda could waive the notice. They got the store manager who knew how to do it. They said it might take 4 weeks. I got her to make a note of what she had said on the notice in case I have any other issues. Thanks for all your excellent advice.2
