Just had a call from easyjet confirming my flight tomorrow? How odd

Just had a call from Easyjet confirming the flight tomorrow and luggage allowance, i asked whether this was a new service and they said yes. seems a bit odd for a low frills carrier to be checking this with me.
Maybe the flight is overbooked?

Maybe it was a burglar who'd hacked your details.
I wouldn't give out any details on the phone to someone that had called me.
I would want them to give me a phone number that I could them check was valid and then call them back so I was sure I was speaking to Easyjet before giving any details at all.0 -
easy jet over book flights, so make sure you turn up early to check-in for your flight.Back on MSE again! to take control of my finances and not let it control me. :T May grocery challenge £41.96/1400

If you are worried about who is calling you, please do not do this! Go and independently find a phone number for the purported caller, and call this number. If it is a scammer (and on this time it was not, Easyjet are now doing this), they will just give you their number to call back on! xGone ... or have I?0 -
easyJet do not routinely overbook flights so this is strange. More likely there is so few passengers at this time of year they are thinking of cancelling and were checking how much it will cost them.
Did they try and sell you anything .. insurance, speedy boarding, hotel etc?
well if it is cancelled make sure you get the compo. I think it is €250.0 -

Thanks for the advice but in my post I did say I would check it first.
If it doesn't match then clearly they are a spammer.
You could just call the company direct but I'd prefer to know for definite they gave me the wrong number.0 -
just called them (they now do Egypt) and the lovely call centre lady ( found number on saynotto0870.com) told me as it was a easyjet holiday booking (remember the wheel of deals?) they always check everythings ok.
i got a second call just now about the other person who i booked, so it seems ok. panic over.0 -
I to had one of these calls last week, just seemed to be making sure that i was aware of allowances etc, nothing to worry about.TBeckett100 wrote: »Just had a call from Easyjet confirming the flight tomorrow and luggage allowance, i asked whether this was a new service and they said yes. seems a bit odd for a low frills carrier to be checking this with me.

Could it be something to do with the relaxation of cabin baggage rules at some airports?
Easyjet were concerned that some of their airports are now "relaxed" but others aren't, so they wanted to make sure that passengers were aware of what they could take onboard depending which airport they were flying out of?
Does sound odd though, think of all the phonecall costs they need to reclaim somehow...0 -
I had the same thing. It appears to be a nice gesture, but did you not hear them trying to sell you lots of things? Speedy boarding, hotels etc, I just thanked them kindly and moved on!0
