I've found small local independent shops are the best to stock up. There used to be a celebration / fancy dress / baloon shop near me who also had a significant (though badlly advertised) card selection. Some great designs and quality and none were more than a pound. Even the larger cards.

Sadly, as with so many similar shops, I arrived one day to find it closed.

We have just bought a small standard condolence card to a relative which cost £3.75 at Sainsburys, and first class postage is £1.70 for a small 40 gram letter. So well over £5 in total!  :o
    • The rich buy assets.
    • The poor only have expenses.
    • The middle class buy liabilities they think are assets.
  • Yes, even some of the cards in supermarkets are very expensive now!

I have no connection with this company apart from being a customer.  I buy in bulk every 12 months or so , enough cards to see me througfh the next year. Cards start at around £1:35 each.  Delivery is free if you buy over a certain number.

Cancer Research shops near me have cards for 99p to £1.49. I use them to stock up on birthday cards once a year.

We have a very large Tesco fairly close.  They’ve got a big array of cards at very reasonable prices

We've just been given a box of about 200 beautiful cards by a friend of my mums who makes them as a hobby. She doesn't want anything for them, just for them to go to people who could use / appreciate them.

My wife is taking them to the local community centre where she volunteers for their honesty box, but she says that they already have about 300 factory made cards that have been donated and at the moment they can barely give them away, which is madness when you think that the supermarkets are charging between £2 and £4 each for ones of a similar size / quality.  :/

I always think it's the design of the card that really matters when people are choosing. If cards are not to someone's taste they won't buy or use them even if they're free.

Recently I bought a card on Etsy, and it came with another "free card" I'd not asked for and in an original design by the same artist I really don't like at all. I'm not sure what to do with it to be honest - I wouldn't send it to anyone as I don't like it, but it's also a waste to bin it... So it's just sat in my box of greetings cards.
