Why make tech more difficult than it has to be?0 -

I hadn't heard of CEX, but had a look at their website.
There is a local store, but not with anything similar to what I want.
How can you tell if the item is in good condition ?
A 5 year guarantee sounds a bit over the top - is this reasonable?
Do you need good laptop knowledge to know if it has a reasonable price? The CEX web page gives details of their 5 year warranty:Buying second hand is always a bit of a gamble, equally the new laptop I bought directly from Dell had a key top "flip up" after using it for only 2 or 3 weeks, it was due to a defective plastic scissor hinge (a 10p part badly made). Dell refused to accept that a keyboard could have a defective part and wanted to send a tech to replace the keyboard at my expense, circa £160. I bought a replacement hinge from eBay and fixed it myself... So not all warranties are what they might first appear. You are right to be wary, but maybe they are really good, not dealt with CEX but at least they have a physical shop to visit.

CEX has grade their product with A, B or C. You generally go for grade B.
You can find CEX physical store all over UK. If you are not happy with what you received, take it back within 14 days and get refund.
I don't know how good/ bad is their 5 year warranty, but at least you can walk in their store and ask them to repair or exchange.
And yes, you need to know what you are looking for when buying used laptop.
I tends to look for used business grade laptop like Lenovo thinkpad or Dell latitude.
Checking price is simple, you just enter the model number on ebay to cross check if they are reasonable.0 -

Windows in 'S' mode is a non-issue, since you can switch to Normal mode easily.
Do you have to go through a registration process with Microsoft?
For the novice, are there likely to be any technical issues?0 -
