I have read a lot of information on what you can or can not use (officially) and just wondered as I am new to all this how it all works in reality.
I know that bleach is a big no and will only be using in a very diluted way, but is it OK to use most supermarket items as long as you use them in moderation?? Toilet Duck Fairy Washing Up liquid, Persil Laundry liquid etc It seems very wasteful to just chuck all the products such as washing laundry liquids and washing up liquid I have left over away but if it is going to cause more harm than good then it would be for the best. I just wondered what people opinions and experiances were

When we moved to a place with a septic tank (around 20 years ago), we were told that modern products were designed to be OK.That said, we also used to buy septic tank enzymes (originally powdered, then monthly tablets). They were flushed down the downstairs loo, and we never had blockage or smell issues. That said, we were careful what was actually flushed, or went down the drains - fat was absorbed into old newspaper or tissue and placed with the black bag stuff, only loo paper for the loos etc.1
