British Homebuyers

Hello

Has anyone sold their house to British Home Buyers please.  Have read about them and am aware they could reduce the offer after survey, just would like to know what it is like to deal with them all the way through

  • Why would you? Just offer your property at a greatly reduced price or put it in (proper/traditional) auction.

Threads on this topic of cash for houses companies, usually conclude that if you want a quick sale, then it makes more sense just to drop the asking price, or go to auction if it is a house that maybe was unmortgageable/in a bit of a state.
There was a thread started 3 years ago, and earlier this year British Homebuyers actually responded to some of the comments.

It doesn`t need to be greatly reduced just sensibly priced for the market, obviously people thinking of using these companies are in areas where demand is falling?

A cash buyer or FTB or any buyer can do the same though?

A representative of British Homebuyers has reached out to us with a reply to this thread, which we're posting on their behalf below:

"Right to Reply – British Homebuyers

We’d like to clarify how British Homebuyers operates, as some comments in this thread may cause confusion.

No last-minute reductions: We do not drop our offers on the day of exchange. This is an unethical practice in the industry, but not something we do.

Three service options: We offer sellers a choice:
A direct cash purchase (typically 80% of value for speed/certainty).
A 30-day sale through our buyer network (usually 95–97% of market value).
A full estate agency service for those who want to hold out for the highest price.
Reservation deposits: Buyers through our network pay a holding deposit, reducing fall-throughs from the ~30% average on the open market to under 3% with us.
Transparency: We are upfront about pricing and timescales from day one, and there is no obligation to proceed.

British Homebuyers was founded in 2013 to offer an ethical, transparent alternative in a sector where sellers have too often been let down.

We hope this gives clarity for anyone researching their options."

Sounds reasonable, the selling point seems to be the "buyer network" as opposed to just sticking it online and in the EA`s window? "Buyer Network" implies active communication with people keen to buy property, and I could see why that would appeal to someone struggling to sell.
