Cathay Pacific Luggage sizing - any thoughts?

Good Morning,
I'm heading off to Australia next week - flying with Cathay Pacific from Heathrow.
My son lives there and he wants me to take out a few of his possessions that are bulky but light.
My best suitcase, that fits everything, is 3 linear cm over size
Cathay Pacific L+W+H = 158 cm 23kg x 2
My bag is L+W+H = 161 cm 14kg x 1
If they take the measurements at the top of the case it will be fine, but the bottom is wider in width and depth....
I've looked at getting a new case - I just wish the labels gave the linear totals too- but now over stressing

IMHO 3cm is going to make no difference whatsoever.1

This wont be a problem at all. Flying long haul with a good airline like Cathay is not like flying with a budget airline...Certain countries do measure luggage for long haul flights I have had this in Japan and South Korea but this wont happen for 3 linear cms at Heathrow.1

We flew CX to Australia last year on a LHR HKG PER routing.
Whilst I would normally recommend sticking to the published airline rules, as @flaneurs_lobster says, I don't think you will have any issue with a checked bag being 3cm over - especially as the weight is well under your permitted allowance.
I also found that Cathy didn't care one bit about the size or quantity of cabin baggage being taken on board by customers. Not that I advocate you taking more than your allowance.
@Bicycleman22 - not sure having a pre-meal gin & tonic or red wine to accompany dinner, served in paper cups fits my full expectations to your definition of a good airline! Crew told me this was for environmental reasons?1
