Charge on estate

Birdiepants

My late fathers estate had to be registered with land registry (the buyers insisted). It has returned with a charge on the land incase any inheritance tax is due. Probate and zero tax confirmed in January and no further contact was made by HMRC so 60 day period where automatic charge removal should have happened is up. Solicitor cannot find a way to remove this (evidence already submitted) and sale about to fall through. Land Registry and HMRC contacted with no help. Can anyone else help

This is normally quite simple to resolve if you have the confirmations you refer to. The conveyancer will have been told why the entry had been made and how to ask us to then cancel it
Normally that's done when the conveyancer confirms certain facts, namely none was ever payable or the amount owed has been paid
You state HMLR contacted with no help which seems odd but that could be down to the Q asked or you received a generic response due to the channel used and category identified.
I'd speak to your conveyancer and double-check what was provided when the application was completed“Official Company Representative
I am the official company representative of Land Registry. MSE has given permission for me to post in response to queries about the company, so that I can help solve issues. You can see my name on the companies with permission to post list. I am not allowed to tout for business at all. If you believe I am please report it to forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com This does NOT imply any form of approval of my company or its products by MSE"2 -
Thanks for your reply @Land_Registry we've recieved an answer of sorts, get an iht30 filled in, but have been told this can take 25 working days to process certificate (in which time the sale will fall through) or get written confirmation from acting solicitor that no iht was even due. Conveyancer is saying that because we did all the inheritance tax forms ourselves he can't confirm, even though probate issued in January and 60 days was up in March. Any help @HMRC_representative0
