IME it's ok. Not great, just another dull outer suburb.

  • West Purley is absolutely lovely! I know the area well (have friends who live there) and some of the properties are out of this world. It's just on the edge of London and Surrey (has great fast links to central London(20 mins)/Gatwick Airport/Brighton)...is surrounded by beautiful countryside.

It's fairly posh and genteel, has a golfcourse/horseriding/flying school - all those type of things... and high on the hill you have fabulous views of Surrey.

It's big desirability factor is that it's so close to central London - and yet is very green and peaceful. If you check it out on upmystreet.com you'll find that Acorn Group 1 lives there - and when you consider Acorn group types, say, 58 live in VERY grotty areas that will give you an idea of the type of place!

Parts of Purley are home to some very wealthy people. Particularly the Webb Estate (a lot of Embassy owned houses there).

Pretty upmarket, not much value for money though.
