Refunds

Hi, Morrisons Supermarket have deducted monies from my Mums Halifax current account that differ from her receipts. The purchases were made in the Fort William store whilst we were on Holiday sin Scotland in July 2025.
My Mum lives in West Yorkshire, England. We have spoken to Customer Services (CS) and they have told her she will need to go back in to the Fort William store to resolve it. We explained to CS that my Mum is 81, partially sighted, a non driver and has just undergone major surgery for breast cancer.
It would take her 10 hours on public transport to get to Fort William. CS said they couldn’t do anything.  I asked to speak to a manager 6 days ago, 4 days ago and yesterday and I have yet to receive a call back. I have emailed them to explain the situation and sent copies of her receipts and bank statement that shows they have overcharged her. I have yet to receive an acknowledgment that they have received  my email.
I rang to ask if CS could check and they didn’t know who dealt with the CS emails.. You cannot speak to a member of staff in store. There is no number for Head Office. It all goes through CS who appear unable to resolve the issue. Is there an Ombudsman that we can contact? I would be grateful for any help or advice. Thank you.

Is it just the one transaction or multiple? You say receipts so I assume more than one. Is it possible there is a missing receipt. How many bank transactions vs receipts is there?
  • How much is the discrepancy?

    As per previous questions plus:

    1.  Are you saying that you can't reconcile  entries in your mum's bank statements to individual receipts from Morrisons, or

    2.  Are you saying there are more transactions on your mum's statements than she has receipts?

    3.  Are you sure she has receipts for all her transactions in the store?  eg could she have bought a newspaper/sweets/cigarettes/flowers and not have kept a receipt?

    4.  Petrol?
