Club Lloyds switching

Is anyone else having issues with switching to the Club Lloyds account with a £200 switching incentive. I cannot get an appointment in branch anywhere locally, I cannot open a joint account with my wife on line or on the phone. Apparently I will need to open a savings account, one each in our respective names, and then I can apply for a joint account online. This is totally bonkers!

I think very few people here, if any, switch joint accounts for a bonus. Why - if you can get two bonuses for switching two sole accounts? To say nothing of the problems with opening a joint account with some banks.Open two sole 'donor' accounts with the same bank you have the joint account with, then switch them.2

I got told the same when I went to switch our joint account to Lloyds. In the end I just walked away, I hate leaving money on the table, but sometimes the hoops required (and the resulting timescales, physical branch visits, and effort) just aren't worth it.
Santander managed to do it all in about 2 days with one phone call.• The rich buy assets.
• The poor only have expenses.
• The middle class buy liabilities they think are assets.1
