On a moneysaving note, why buy Calpol for your kids? You can get paracetamol suspension free on prescription for your children. It may or may not be Calpol, depending on what your pharmacist has in.

It needs to be pointed out that not all dr's will prescribe this medicine. Dr's in suffolk will not prescibe medicine that you can buy over the counter cheap enough. in essex i use to get teething gel (can get expensive), medicine and other things for my baby but not here. basically if you can buy it, they wont prescribe it. goes for bandages and all sorts. large signs up saying it is to save money for heart and other serious conditions. I was told this by our surgery and by various mothers dotted around suffolk.

  • wil anyone be going to the slough boots on 75% off day? :)

  • Used the voucher from the magazine and bought 3 x No.7 tanning wipes reduced to 50p each and 3for2 so £1.00 which I was going to buy anyway. I picked up the No.7 Illuminating Powder and handed the voucher over and it took the £10.50 off so I only paid £1.00 for all 4 items! SA didn't bat an eyelid so I went off and did it again! I may even go back tomorrow and have another go if there are any wipes left - I could have even bought 1 wipe for 50p and got the powder, but thought that looked even more suss!

Some Ruby & Millie colour compacts reduced to £5 in my local branch. They co-ordinate with the Ruby & Mille make-up bags that some of us got for about £2 each just before Xmas. I bought 2 and used the Ruby & Millie voucher I received with my mailing the other day to get the £12 eye colour compact free. The voucher for the extra points that came with the Ruby & Millie large gift sets that were half-price and 342 would not scan on the 3rd compact I bought, as it was reduced.

When I looked at my receipt just now, I also got 500 points for buying 2 x R&M items.

So, I spent £10 on 2 reduced R&M colour compacts, got a £5 voucher, £5 on a reduced R&M colour compact and got another £5 voucher. My total spend was £15, and got 3 x £5 R&M colour compacts reduced, a £12 R&M eye colour compact free and 2 x Time Delay wipes. So for £15 I got £35 worth of products plus 520 points. Not as good as some bootser's but pretty good for me.

    Hello everyone,

I am thinking of buying a reduced perfume set with my advantage points as a treat, there is currently a third off. Does anyone know if perfume sets get reduced further like other sale items or should i get it now whilst i can??

    Any advice gratefully received,

    Thanks!

I don't remember the reductions improving on the gift sets last year - I was waiting for bigger bargains and the sets just disappeared from the shelves without further discounts happening. Maybe others have different experiences? Good luck either way!

Valk_scot - are you the Valk_scot who gave me loads of help last summer on the camping forum??! If so, then:hello:. If not, then just ignore me!!!

Yup, it's me. The name is a dead givaway, isn't it? Nice to see you here too!

Oh, and on a Boots note, I was in my local one today (Fort Kinnaird, Edinburgh) and the 50% off shelves were absolutely groaning with stock. They must be clearing out the warehouse big style. I took careful note of what they had that I wanted and I'll be down there asap on the 15th.

(We are all sure 75% day is the 15th, yes??)
    Val.
  • hi. thinking of trying to do sale (75%) online instead of instore. could anyone let me kno if this normally goes smoothly ie no missing items etc.

Just looking at the Boots website and quite a few gifts that were there this morning are now out of stock. Maybe with free delivery on orders over £45, it's not very cost-effective to clear the excess stock via the website. So it looks like a trip into town may be needed! I remember last year on the first day of the 75% sale, they were putting more and more stock out on the shelves and there was plenty to go around.

Hi Val - I'll be back on the ukcs forums by the summer hopefully. I was gutted at having to cancel our august camp last year because of ill health but hope to put all your good advice (and our new, as yet unused, tent and trailer) to good use in due course!
  • hi does anyone know if boots stores are going to stock forward facing car seats again or have some instock. have managed to save £130 of points to get one and now my local store doesn't have any and say they have been discontinued instore yet another store says maybe next week. phoned customer services and they said to buy one in a different shop that sells car seats and to try whsmiths !!!
    thanks
