outfox energy switch- double payment during switching ???
switching from octopus to outfox as nearly £300 cheaper over the year. signed up with latter on 1st sept 25 asked for switch to go thru on 25th sept as away on hol b4 that. octopus took their dd out from 5th sept as normal. returning from hoI I discover Outfox have taken dd from 10th so as far as i can see im paying twice for fuel used in period 10th-25th Sept? am I going do-llally or am I right!?
when querying this on chat with Outfox they said its their policy to take dd 10 days after signup. That is all i cud get out of them. they wouldn't comment on the fact that Im therefore surely paying twice... they just said send us a meter reading on 25th sept.
I then rang octopus who said they'd refund any portion of payment relating to period 25th sept-5th oct. this was what Id expected. they did say that outfox shouldn't be taking money from me before switching date and to take it up with them...
cool off period passed whilst away on hol so am stuck and starting tor rue my switch-which hasn't even happened yet!!
anyone else experienced this or can suggest a way forward pleeese??? tia

In both cases, you are likely paying into the pot from which your "bill" will be taken from. You wont be paying for anything twice, you will only pay for your actual usage assuming both providers use the same closing/opening reading.1

When Octopus produce your final bill, you will be refunded any balance on your account. They have 6 weeks to finalise your account and produce a final bill. Then 2 weeks to refund any balance.
You have to pay Outfox before you start using their Energy. If you don't want to pay upfront asked to pay by variable direct debit based on production of a bill each month. This way you wont be able to split your bills over 12 months.
You don't actually pay for any energy until a bill is produced. Until then you are giving Outfox money to cover expected usage.
Unlikely Octopus will deduct a DD in October but be prepared in case they do.3.795 kWp Solar PV System. Capital of the Wolds1 -

Your contract with Outfox (like your contract with Octopus) requires you to keep your account in credit, and Outfox (like Octopus) take a payment before they begin to supply you to make certain this happens.N.
