October 2025 Grocery Challenge

Forgot to mention our budget is for two adults and 2 children (11 and 4) and includes cleaning supplies but not toiletries or pet supplies.
I did a Costco run yesterday which came to £80.57 which contained some items that will last 2+ months so I am going to account for them now and restart my second purse to save for the next Costco shop.
I've then been to ASDA this evening with my mum and done a sizeable top up shop for the month which came to a total of £105.43 which is rather scary really considering it was only 56 items! Although one was cheese for my mum as we took advantage of a 2for offer.
That puts us at a current total of £186. which sounds intimidating but I anticipate no top up shops this week (we don't often have one midweek!) and a small shop of youngest's yogurts, milk, bread, ham and fresh meat next Friday/Saturday so hopefully <30************************************

@elsiepac The Bees are back after several years of absence. I think it's been over 10 years! Our young adults have flown the nest years ago so it's just the two of us and Neville our overweight cat at home now. Aiming to cut back on grocery spends so a budget of £350 for our 1st month. That's food, cat food, toiletries, cleaning products etc.
Looking forward to getting control of our grocery spends againHoping to retire earlier than 67!6 -

I was missing in action in September as we were out and about and away for a few days.I'm going to be strict with the grocery budget this month and make sure I track all our spending as well as using existing things up.
i have trimmed the budget by £25 to see how we get on and to stop me getting complacent.

Hi Everyone,
Welcome to the new members 😊. Thank you for setting up the thread @elsiepac
I had a brilliant result September but l know that October will be much higher. Its a longer month 1 day makes all the difference 🤣. The school holidays always cost more and I'm expecting to be entertaining a few times during the month.
That said l don't want to lose the plot completely !!
My budget for October will be £400 this is for 4 adults and two growing children with a further £50 for bulk items like washing powder, toilet roll etc.
I have already spent £8,70 on meat l brought last week for meals this week and £7.42 at home bargains for toiletries.New totals

Hi @elsiepac,
Can I be put down for £400 for October please?
I'm hoping for a low level month in October and have just done a freezer audit so trying to utilise what I have as much as possible, although I do need to do some batch cooking to help with the cold weather comfort eating.
Of which I have already started - work break/fresh air break/co-op shop today bread rolls, YS ham and a lucozade, needed to get me through an afternoon of working from home.
