How to completely turn off editing remarks in Word

There's only one in the column which doesn't now show there but has come up as a blank box on the actual page. When clicked it shows the comment. How do I get rid of it?

    Do you mean mark-up rather than remark? If so turn off show mark up in the Review menu.

    I'm not a Word expert so I don't know the jargon. But it worked.
