    Hi

Have you tried capital one? They are usally a good place to start. He would probably get a low credit limit but they do review it.

Note the Capital One card has a high interest rate and he may have to pay a deposit. Well worth it though if he is willing to pay it off in full each month.

Here is a link to the Capital One card. Barclays also offer a similar one.

The other option is to apply to his bank for one. Having no credit history is less of a problem if the bank can see he has managed his account ok. Likewise any company he has savings with.
  • My son is just 18 and, on a recent shopping trip, together, he signed up for a Burtons card to get a discount on his purchases. He is wise enough not to continue to use the card but, as it's a store card, it may well enable your stepson to get on the credit ladder!

I agree with Helen, also worth mentioning that he could look to apply for a card that asks about 'household income' rather than just his indv. income. Read several threads on this recently.
