Quote for downstairs loo refit

Just had this quote for a small downstairs toilet refit. Really like the look of the company, reviews check out OK, guy came round and was very personable but seems I'm totally clueless about the cost of things these days. My guestimate was around £3K tops. Space is 1.6m x 0.8m and the quote covers full wall and floor tiling. Fair price or should I be shopping around? If this is the going rate I don't want to be getting more quotes really.

Most of the hardware, such as tiles (unless special design) are very cheap to buy - so you are mostly paying for labourSo to tile 10 sq m of wall would be a good half of the overall time / costhence this does appear to be a good price for a fairly labour intensive jobI recently paid £4000 to get floor to ceiling full length plastic panels fitted in my 4.5 sq metres wetroomyours is 1/4 of this size !
If I was half as smart as I think I am - I'd be twice as smart as I REALLY am.1 -
i must be out of touch aswell as i would have thought £1k max for downstairs loo and sink.
Ive just been walking around B&Q as im thinking of refitting my ensuite and back-of-a-fag-pack cost is £800 for materials.
Shower Tray £140
Shower Door £305
Shower £95
Tiles £120
Toilet £80
Sink £60
Extras would be things like grout, taps, piping etc.....
Then im thinking 4 days to rip out the old stuff and fit the new which will cost me £1,500 (basically £400 day rate).
Skip hire £300
My thinking is my ensuite should cost me £3k all finished.
IMHO your loo must be much much less then £5k (i know im tight with money, but i wouldn't be paying £5k)
On the positive, your quote is clear and detailed

I just don't have the skills to do this myself and my reasoning is that despite freshening this space up over the past 25 years it's the original suite that Barratts fit back in the day so it's the cheapest of the cheap. I'm ready to spend a bit more for something that's potentially going to last for another 25 years and look much nicer instead of me giving it a go and forever being unhappy with the results. If I spend the £5K they quote and it's a perfect job, that's cost £200 per year which makes it seem palatable. I'm trying to justify giving them the go ahead because i'm a VERY tight northerner ;-) Just wanted to put the feelers out to see what this board thought.0

I totally understand your thinking when you say "£200 per year which makes it palatable"
Personally i would get a few more quotes (it just feels a little too expensive IMHO).
Also my prices listed above are for basic / budget materials and nothing fancy.I have a tendency to mute most posts so if your expecting me to respond you might be waiting along time!1
