I will try and keep this brief. Contractor working away, but back in Aug 2018 i had an accident all resulting in lung surgery. it took me a long time to get over and covid scares had to hide etc.
I had a credit card with around £11k. I Informed Barclayard and they gladly put the account on hold. After periodic check-ins all was well. Maybe last payment was either Aug/Sep/Oct/Nov 2018. Then one day in July/Aug 2019 I had correspondence from CSL or PRA group not sure which. I believed them to have been acting on behalf of Barclaycard. I sent an Email explaining my illness etc. The account then continued to be on hold with the odd check in periodically. Today i still have issues (My accident resulted in a punctured lung, collapsed lung, pneumonia/sepsis/invasive surgery) As of yet i am fighting to even now get back to work. At no point has any demand ever been made for payments. Over time, i have just forgotten about it all, i really have.I have since also moved residence end of Jan, and no mail is going to previous address that has all been handed to me. I got tired of non human bot calls in the past and blocked that number. I see the odd junk Email in the junk folder. Today i see a letter addressed to me and open it and it is from Moorcroft group, at the bottom it mentions a debt recovery company link. First line reads "We are attempting to contact the above named person regarding a personal matter and we have been provided your address as a possible address for our customer" / "if you are the person contact .....etc" / "However, if you are not the person named above it is also important that you contact us.......etc".

I thought i best have a look at the damage to my credit file. I was surprised that I have no debts listed, no credit agreements listed, no outstanding anything listed at all.

Any advice on how i should proceed ?

Ignore - if you haven't acknowledged the debt in any way for seven years then it'll be statute barred, meaning that technically you still owe the money but they can't pursue you for it in court.

Moorcroft just act as debt collectors so they can be routinely ignored.

The Limitation Act says that if you have not acknowledged a debt by payment or in writing for six years then it becomes statute barred and stays that way.

So doing nothing is the safe option for now

If you get a proper letter from the debt owner, particularly if this is headed Letter Before Claim, then post on Debt-free Wannabe

Whatever you do (& ignoring is best!) do NOT respond to the email at all or respond to any texts you might get.  And don't phone them to tell them to butter off.  You don't want to give them any easy ways to contact you.  Unless, as fatbelly said, they send a proper letter then pop over to the Debtfree Wannabe board for more advice.

Sounds like you've really been through the mills.  Hope you are coping ok with everything else.
